Algeria Stands by Mali’s Unity, Condemns Rising Terror Threats

Algeria has reiterated its firm support for the unity, sovereignty, and stability of Mali, while strongly condemning all forms of terrorism, regardless of motive or justification.

In a statement issued on Monday Night, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, emphasized the country’s unwavering position amid what he described as “serious developments” in Mali.


In a statement to the press regarding “serious developments” in the Republic of Mali, following an audience granted in Algiers to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 
Elmedin Konakovic, who in on an official visit to Algeria, ATTAF reiterated Algeria’s “clear and unwavering position, and its support for the unity of the Malian territory, its people, and its institutions.


” Reaffirming Algeria’s “categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism”, ATTAF stressed that “terrorism cannot be justified or tolerated regardless of its motives or causes, a stance shaped by Algeria’s own bitter experience with the scourge.” 


Algeria calls for “strengthening the  national unity within the sister country of Mali,” said ATTAF, who explained that such unity serves as “the best deterrent against terrorism and the shield that can truly be relied upon to combat this scourge with the necessary effectiveness.

Nigeria Boosts Diplomatic Ties with Grenada as Both Countries Commit to Deeper NTAC Partnership

As part of its ongoing official foreign engagements, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, led a high-level delegation to Grenada, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to deepening South-South Cooperation with African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries.


In a statement signed by the Head, Information & Public RelationsNigerian Technical Aid CorpsMinistry of Foreign Affairs, weekend in Abuja Ojo Adetoun Olubunmi reveals that delegation, which included the Director of Programmes, Ambassador Bello A. Jaye, alongside other officials, commenced its engagements with a visit to Grenada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 


The Honourable Minister, Joseph Andall, warmly received the team, highlighting the positive impact of the NTAC Scheme in Grenada and reaffirming his Ministry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Nigeria. He was accompanied by Foreign Service Officer, Mr. Ghavri Bartholomew.


At the Ministry of Health, the delegation was received on behalf of the Honourable Minister by the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Rhonda Jones.Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in healthcare delivery, capacity building, and technical assistance.


Also present at both engagements were Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Grenada, Mrs. Dankaro Angye Ashumate, and the Head of Chancery, Mrs. Linda Hills.


In his remarks, the Director-General emphasised Nigeria’s sustained commitment to South-South Cooperation through the NTAC Scheme, which deploys skilled Nigerian professionals to partner countries in support of human capital development and institutional strengthening, in line with the foreign policy thrust of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.


The Director of Programmes, Ambassador Bello A. Jaye, highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing shared challenges, particularly in the health sector, reaffirming Nigeria’s readiness to support partner countries through Technical expertise and Knowledge exchange.


The Permanent Secretary, Ms. Rhonda Jones, expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s continued support and leadership, noting the impact of Nigerian professionals in strengthening healthcare systems and calling for sustained collaboration in key areas.


Other officials present at the Ministry of Health engagement included Ms. Romana Ross, Foreign Service Officer, and Mr. Delran Andrews, Desk Officer.


The engagements further underscore Nigeria’s leadership role in South-South Cooperation and its commitment to promoting shared development and international solidarity.
