ARCN Boss Backs New Agricultural Books on Crop Protection

The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Dr. Adamu Abubakar Dabban, has commended the publication of two new agricultural books aimed at strengthening knowledge and practical capacity in crop protection and disease management.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Head, PR Unit Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Khadijat O. Ameen (ANIPR) in Abuja stated that, Dabban spoke on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the launch of the books at Haske Luxury, Governor’s Hall, Minna, Niger State.
The publications, authored by Dr. Saidu Adamu Paiko, focus on major challenges affecting crop production and agricultural productivity in Nigeria.
They are Applied Plant Pathology and Crop Disease Management in Nigeria: A Practical Manual for Students in Agriculture and Major Crop Pests of Nigeria: Identification, Biology and Integrated Management.
Dabban commended Paiko for the initiative, describing the publications as valuable contributions to agricultural research, education and extension services in Nigeria.
He stressed that the effective identification, prevention and management of crop diseases and pests were crucial to improving agricultural yields, protecting farmers’ investments and strengthening the nation’s food security.
The ARCN boss encouraged students, researchers, extension officers, farmers and other agricultural practitioners to make effective use of the books as reference materials for learning, research and improved farming practices.
He congratulated Paiko on the achievement, noting that the publications would contribute to expanding practical agricultural knowledge and supporting efforts to enhance crop productivity across the country.

ARCN Executive Secretary Dabbán Earns Double Recognition for Excellence

The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Dr. Adamu Abubakar Dabban, has been honoured with a Double Award of Excellence by two youth-focused organisations for his leadership, commitment to good governance and contributions to the development of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by the ANIPR PRO, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Khadijat Ameen in Abuja stated that the honours were conferred on Dr. Dabban by the Nigeria Youth Initiative for Peace and Good Governance and the Northern Youth Forum for Responsive Governance.
The organisations recognised the ARCN Executive Secretary for what they described as his outstanding leadership and dedication to good governance, as well as his efforts toward advancing agricultural development in Nigeria.
The double recognition highlights the growing attention being given to leadership and institutional efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural research and development ecosystem.
Receiving the honours, Dr. Dabban expressed appreciation to the organisations for the recognition, noting that such awards serve as encouragement to remain committed to the responsibilities entrusted to him and to the broader goal of advancing agricultural development.
The recognition comes as the ARCN continues its mandate of coordinating and promoting agricultural research and development in support of Nigeria’s food and agricultural priorities.
