Arewa Youth Sports Forum Slams Brila CEO over Treatment of Ex-Staff
Joel Ajayi
The Arewa Youth Sports Forum has expressed strong disapproval of Brila Group CEO Larry Izamoje’s approach to allegations levelled against some of his former employees.
In a statement issued by Coordinator Yohanna Pam in Kaduna, the group condemned the “unwarranted attack and presumptive judgment” on the accused, emphasizing that “an accused remains innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.”
Pam stated, “We find it disturbing that individuals are being prejudged and pilloried without due process. The rule of law and principles of natural justice must be upheld.”
The criticism comes as a Federal High Court in Lagos, led by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, has ordered the trial in absentia of three former Brila Broadcasting Services Limited employees, Akakan Victor Mkpong Sam, Blessing Sunday Ekerete, and Anthony Babafemi Raji facing a ₦100 million fraud and cyber bullying charges filed by the Inspector General of Police.
The defendants failed to appear in court on November 7, 2025, leading to the judge’s order for the trial to proceed without them, with the next hearing set for 30 January, 2026.
Yohanna Pam added, “We urge all stakeholders to allow the legal process take its course and refrain from actions that could prejudice the case or undermine justice.”
