Asiwaju’s Regime Is Nigeria Project, Not APC- Sunday Dare

Ahead of the upcoming inauguration of the incoming All Progressive Congress (APC) administration, to be led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Sunday Dare has made public his aspiration to serve in other capacities, other than as Minister of Sports and Youth Development.

Chief Dare dropped the hint by himself on Saturday, while speaking with veteran Sports Journalist Michell Obi on Sports Salsa, on Eagle FM.

Dare said, “my job is done as Sports Minister. I have put in my best and I am ready to move on”.

Chief Dare was responding to a question as to whether he would want to come back for another four years as Sports Minister.

According to him, having done his best in the last 3 and half years, in steering the ministry, and giving both the youths of the country and the nation’s sports sector to new and lofty heights; his desire is now to serve in any other capacity that the President-elect may assign to him, other than the Sports Ministry.

The minister who was Chief of Staff and Media Aide to the President-elect further stated that the foundations, legacies and programmes he initiated have in a great deal, promoted Nigeria globally in the area of youth and sports, and what anyone taking over from him would have to do is, build on his achievements, while imputing fresh ideas.

Until his appointment in 2019 as Minister of Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Chief Dare was a practicing veteran journalist.

His legacies in the nation’s sports sector, includes the “adopt an athlete programme”, “adopt a pitch programme” and the unrivaled attention given to Team Nigeria’s Sportsmen and women.

While the adopt a pitch programme has seen the rehabilitation of key sporting infrastructure in the country, including the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja; the adopt an athlete and improved welfare packages for the nation’s athletes were key in Team Nigeria’s excellent outings at the African Games in Morocco; the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham; and the World Athletics Championships in Eugene Oregon, USA.

A prominent grassroots mobilizer and seasoned politician, Hon. Gloria Sarauniya Usman, has been elected as the State Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Her emergence was confirmed during the party’s State Congress held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the SDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

The congress, which was peaceful and well-attended by delegates from across the FCT, marked a significant turning point for the party’s leadership. Several key officials were elected into various strategic roles, with Hon. Gloria’s victory standing out as a reflection of the party’s growing emphasis on inclusive leadership and grassroots empowerment.

Gloria Sarauniya is widely respected within political circles for her unwavering commitment to party ideals and her dedication to community development. Before joining the SDP, she served as Deputy National Contact and Mobilization Secretary of the PDP Professional and Business Group (PDPPBG), where she championed professional engagement and grassroots outreach.

Her election as State Secretary is being celebrated across the party as a boost to internal coordination and strategic planning. Known for her humility, administrative acumen, and passion for social inclusion, Gloria has consistently played pivotal roles in mobilizing support for the party across the six area councils of the FCT.
