MK as he is fondly called by his admirers, during his UK holiday trip honoured Taiwo Awoniyi invitation in the early hours of Thursday, 26th December, 2026.
President of Water FC, Abuja, extended his warmest wishes and heartfelt prayers to the gifted forward.
Makanjuola, often referred to as MK, described his visit to Awoniyi’s impressive residence as unforgettable.
“I thought it would be a wonderful gesture to come and greet Taiwo Awoniyi and wish him a Merry Christmas,” Nureni Makanjuola stated.
“Typically, I celebrate Christmas in Abuja with my family, but this year I decided to be in the United Kingdom. I felt it was important to visit Taiwo and his family, who welcomed me warmly.”
It is with a deep sense of responsibility and a heart full of gratitude, that I wish to express my profound gratitude to Taiwo Awoniyi for hosting me on Boxing Day in your UK home.
I have known him for a very long time and I am not surprised that this spirit of generosity has inspired him throughout his life and career.
Water FC has produced many players for the different categories of Nigeria national teams; from Golden Eaglets to Flying Eagles as well as Super Eagles. Well known by top European clubs for managing exceptional players, Makanjuola has involved in players deals with Chelsea and Barcelona among others.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025.
The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.
The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.
The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.
Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
