 Basic Education Development: UBEC Commends FCT Administration

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has commended the FCT Administration for its efforts in the development of basic education in the Territory.

This commendation was made by the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr Hamid Bobboyi when he led a delegation of top management staff of the Commission on a courtesy visit to the FCTA.

UBEC Chairman who was received by the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello in his office, congratulated the FCT Minister for achievements in the basic education sector

 

He “We want to extend our congratulation to you for superintending over a basic education sector that is performing very well here in the FCT. We have been visiting some of the schools, we have been looking at a lot of issues that take place within the FCT because the Commission itself is located within the FCT and its staff is also of course within the city”.

 

Bobboyi commended the FCTA for having one of the highest number of qualified teachers in the country. He said “One of the challenges that we have in the country has been the area of qualified teachers. Looking at what is available in other parts of the country, we are very much encouraged looking at the picture here in the FCT. Despite the challenges, the FCT is deemed to have one of the highest qualified teacher numbers in the country.

He also commended the FCT Administration for accessing its UBEC funds up to 2019 saying that many other states were still struggling adding that the FCTA has utilized the resources judiciously with the provision of infrastructure.

On the problem of out-of-school children, the UBEC Executive Secretary also said that the efforts of the FCTA in this regard have substantially reduced the number of out-of-school children in the Territory.

He also called for the support of the FCTA for the establishment of a Digital Resource Center in the FCT saying that the establishment of such a Center became imperative with the COVID-19 Pandemic where students had to take online classes.

In his response, the FCT Minister thanked Dr Bobboyi for the commendation and said the development of education remains a priority for the FCT Administration.

Speaking on the establishment of the Digital Resource Center, Malam Bello pledged the support of the FCTA saying that it would be very difficult for agencies such as UBEC to function efficiently without leveraging on technology.

CSO Salutes Trump

A Civil Society Organization (CSO) under the aegis of Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC) has congratulated President Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America.

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President of the CSO said this in an interview with the Newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

He expressed optimism over improvement on not just American economy but global economy with the inauguration of Trump.

“This is a man with greater vision of making environment around him great.

“In less than few hours of his inauguration, TikTok is back into existence, this shows how he is going to revive the world economy,” he said.

The ILDC boss who reiterated his confidence in Trump’s Presidency, described him as a man of clues and ideas to drive a stable America and the world at large.

He lauded Trump’s collaboration with global entrepreneurs like Elon Musk in an effort to revitalize America’s economy.

According to him, men and women of ideas flock together, they work together for better society and this is what Trump is doing.

Recall that Donald Trump became the 47th President of the U.S by polling 312 electoral votes Vice President Kamala Harris’ 226 votes in Nov, 2024.

Following the oath of office, Trump will address the nation before he is expected to parade across town to the White House and attend three inaugural balls in the evening

About 200,000 supporters are expected to visit the city to mark the presidential transfer of power.
