Bayelsa Tops Medal Table After Day 3 of Gateway Games

After another exciting day across the various venues  at the National Sports Festival, Day 3 official medals table summary sees Bayelsa state leading the pack with a total of 6 Gold medals ,
 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
They are closely followed by Oyo state with a total of six medals, out of which 4 are  Gold ,1 silver and 1 bronze medal. Lagos is next on the table after Tuesday”s round of Games with 3 Gold , 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.
In fourth position is cross river with only 3 Gold medals while Rivers state completes the top five with 2 Gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.
The Invited Junior Athletes, IJA,  are surely punching above their weights occupying the 6th position with 2 Gold medals , 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Defending champion and competition”s favourite Delta state are in distant 7th after Day 3 round of games with just 1 Gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
A total of 71 medals have been won so far at of which 23 are Gold , 23 are silver and 25 are bronze medals as the festival begins to build more momentum in terms of excitement, competition and quality.
The Director General of the National Sports commission, NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade has appealed to Journalists covering the Games to always assess the standings on the medals log from the official table of the Commission rather than unverified self-generated table seen on the internet.
Actions will continue on Wednesday in the various Sports venues as we await more competitive drama on the medals table.

NVBF seeks continuous partnership with Abia Govt after successful 2025 Nat Div 1 & 2

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) have expressed profound appreciation to the Government and people of Abia State for their outstanding support and collaboration during the successful hosting of the final phase of the 2025 National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues.
In a statement signed by Engineer Musa Nimrod, NVBF President, the federation commended Abia State for its warm hospitality and commitment to the development of sports, particularly volleyball.
Nimrod explained that the successful event was a result of the strong partnership between the federation and the state government.
He said, “The Board of Administration of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, on behalf of the entire volleyball community in the country, wishes to express profound gratitude to the Government and people of Abia State for their noble collaboration in organizing the final phase of Division 1 and 2.”
He further highlighted that Abia State is gradually becoming a hub for volleyball in Nigeria.
Nimrod attributed the growth of volleyball to the government’s investment in youth and sports development.
He emphasised the NVBF desire to sustain and strengthen this partnership to further promote volleyball and empower young athletes across the nation.
“The federation remains grateful and looks forward to a more robust and progressive partnership with the Abia State Government in the future.”
