Be Factual In Your Reportage, Media Assistant To Sports Minister Admonishes Journalists

The Newly appointed Media Assistant to the Hon, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Kola Daniel, has implored Sports reporters in the country to adhere strictly to the profession’s code of ethics in the reportage of the sports sector that believe if put in place will bring desired growth and develolment to the sector.

The award-winning Journalist Kola Daniel whose appointment officially announced on Tuesday in Abuja promised to continue in his drive to achieve excellence in his new role while he counts on the journalist’s undilute support to succeed in the new assignment.

According to him, my advice is that, Sports Journalists should be professional in their reportage, they must be very, very meticulous of serial disruptions and percesual distrustion in dissemination of information.

They should endeavour to always have fact and findings information that is balance, information that have the encoder, decoder and receiver, the information that they have true picture before sending it to the public.

We all know that, Serial distruption, percecual distruption are against the ethic of this profession and on our part we will try as much as we can, as a media practitioner to try and reach the general public with the right information, right content, right details that can be accepted.

New S.A however sought the support of every Sports Media saying its a collective effort that can only take sport to the next level; “I cant do it alone, I need sports journalist to come together, rub mind together, so that we we can achieve the desire goal of sports and what is this desire goal, moving sport to the next level.”

Infrastructural development will take center stage, with new facilities such as indoor sports halls, conference centers, and improved road networks reshaping urban landscapes while strengthening the nation’s capacity to host future international events.

Economic growth is another significant dividend. Over 10,000 jobs are expected to be created, spanning construction, facility management, event planning, and tourism services.

The hospitality industry will undergo major improvements as hotels and resorts are upgraded to meet international standards, while local restaurants, lounges, and tourist attractions will see a surge in patronage from international visitors. Small and medium enterprises, particularly in the transport, finance, and food service sectors, will become some of the greatest beneficiaries, as the Games generate new demand and expand opportunities for local businesses.
The Commonwealth Games will also accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s sports industry.

Investments in training facilities, coaching, and talent development will inspire a new generation of athletes, ensuring long-term benefits that extend beyond 2030, a major focus of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
At the same time, the process of preparing for the Games will create opportunities for Nigerians to learn new crafts, acquire technical skills, and engage in global-standard event management, thereby strengthening human capacity and innovation across industries.
