BIS Can Produce Onyali, Ajunwa – Minister
Minister of Youth and sports Development Mr Sunday Dare has expressed excitement at the deluge of talents at the British International School , Victoria Island, Lagos, assuring that future talents can be discovered for the country.
Speaking at the Final of the British International School Maiden Football Tournament on Thursday, the Minister said ” I’m so excited to see so many young talents.I gladly moved my Itinerary around to join the kids because these ones are the future of sports development in this country. They are also the strength of our youth. I want to congratulate all the students and those that participated. I hope from these young ones we’ll have more Mary Onyali, Chioma Ajunwa and Sunday Bada.
These are sportsmen and women that represented this country in the Olympics, commonwealth games, All Africa games and won medals. I’m sure from here we’ll have stars who will represent the country in the future “
The Minister concluded by saying ” We have an adopt initiative which identifies talents and nurtures them to stardom. We hope to identify new talents and we can look back in the future and say they were discovered from this school”

Montage Community Football Tourney Registration Ends October 30

Registration for the 2026 edition of the Montage Community Football Tournament will close on Friday, October 30, organisers have announced.
The tournament coordinator, Mr Raphael Ekpang, disclosed this on Thursday, urging interested teams across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to take advantage of the remaining days to register.
Ekpang said registration had been ongoing since Monday, encouraging eligible teams to complete the process before the deadline.
The tournament, themed “Montage FM 99.7: Empowering Youth, Uniting Communities Through Football,” is scheduled to kick off on November 3, 2026, with playoffs across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
The grand finale will hold on December 5, 2026, at the Old Parade Ground, Garki Area 10, Abuja, where the top four teams will compete for first-, second- and third-place honours.
A total of 48 teams will participate in the competition, with eight teams representing each of the six Area Councils.
The participating teams will compete for cash prizes worth over ₦2 million and other valuable rewards.
