Bocknor Applauds Mouktar’s Leadership as NFF Brokers Peace in FCT FA Crisis

Chairman of Likeminds Football Club and board member of the FCT Football Association, Barr. Babatunde Akintade Bocknor, has lauded the Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Adam Mohammed Mouktar, for his maturity and commitment to preserving peace within the association amidst a recent crisis.

Speaking to journalists after a reconciliation meeting convened by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which was attended by the NFF Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi; FCT FA Chairman, Adam Mohammed Mouktar; and Barr. Babatunde Bocknor, the Likeminds FC Chairman expressed appreciation for the resolution process.

“Adam Mouktar demonstrated remarkable humanity and magnanimity in handling the situation,” Bocknor stated. “He placed the interest of the FCT FA above personal considerations, which is commendable. His decision to honor the NFF’s invitation despite the challenges shows his vision and passion for the growth of football.”

Bocknor further emphasized his renewed commitment to football development in the FCT, congratulating Alhaji Salihu Kolo on his emergence as the first vice chairman. “My intention in running for the vice chairman position was solely to contribute to the progress of football, not to challenge the incumbent. I remain dedicated to the association’s growth,” he affirmed.

He also expressed gratitude to notable stakeholders for their contributions to restoring peace, including Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi for his fatherly role, former FCT FA Chairman Emmanuel Attah, Kwara State FA Chairman Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa (fondly called Thuraya), Ali Abubakar (Head of Members Association, NFF), and Coach Patrick Bassey for their support and timely advice. He also acknowledged the former FCT Coaches Association Chairman, Godwin Bamgboye, for his behind-the-scenes efforts in unifying the association.

Additionally, Bocknor revealed that the petition submitted to the NFF has been withdrawn and offered apologies to all stakeholders including the FCT FA Chairman for any inconveniences it may have caused during the process while calling on the Chairman of the FCT Ethics Committee, Adamu Hasshim, to overlook grievances arising from statements attributed to one of the coaches. “To err is human, and to forgive is divine,” he remarked.

Barr. Bocknor concluded by expressing optimism that the resolution efforts will set a strong foundation for the continuous growth and unity of football in the FCT

Cricket: Nigeria To Host ICC U19 Men’s World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria Cricket Federation , NCF, says it is ready to host five other nations for the International Cricket Council ,ICC, Under 19 Men’s World Cup African Qualifier.


The tournament is billed for Lagos, with the matches to be held at the cricket ovals in Tafawa Balewa Square ,TBS, and the University of Lagos ,UniLag, from March 26 to April 6.


Uyi Akpata, President of the Federation, said in a statement on Sunday, that the tournament is about celebrating the growth of the game on the continent.


“Nigeria is thrilled to welcome these talented young cricketers and their supporters to Lagos.
“Our nation is known for its warm hospitality and fascinating cricketing potential, and we are committed to making this qualifier a memorable experience for all.


“This tournament is not just about competition; it’s about celebrating the growth of cricket in Africa and inspiring the next generation of players”, Akpata noted.


However, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Tanzania and Sierra Leone will join Nigeria to jostle for the continent’s sole ticket to the 2026 ICC Under 19 Men’s World Cup.


Meanwhile, Nigeria will be hoping to secure the ticket, having achieved same feat in 2019 and competing at the World Cup in South Africa 2020
