Breaking: Chief Christian Asaga Nwali awarded PhD in Architecture by University of Nigeria, Nsukka

A popular hotelier, architect, philanthropist and Chairman of C-Sagas Group of Companies, Architect Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Architecture by the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).


Architect Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, who earned a B.Sc in Architecture from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) and M.Sc in Architecture from UNN, was awarded the Ph.D in Architecture on Saturday, 21 December 2024, during the 53rd convocation ceremony of UNN. 


Speaking with our reporter, the Chairman, C.Sagas Group, who equally has a Ph.D Honoris Causa in Entrepreneurship and International Business Management from American-European University and a CFIAR Fellow (Honoris Causa), Institute of Chartered Administrators of Nigeria (ICAN), said he has never deviated from the tenets of architecture from his undergraduate days as he always knew what he wanted to study right from his day one in the university. 

Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, who is also a Member, Ebonyi State Hall of Fame, Member, Nigeria Institute of Architects, expressed gratitude to everyone who made it possible for him to earn a PhD in Architecture from UNN.


“I am honoured to announce that I was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Architecture today, December 21st, 2024, at the 53rd Convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). I give all the glory to God Almighty and express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported me throughout this journey of achieving the milestone of being awarded a Ph.D in Architecture.


“If you look critically, you can see that I studied Architecture right from day one in the university at UNIZIK, then my M.Sc. in the prestigious UNN and now PhD from the same UNN. That is to show you that all my life, it has always been Architecture. This has made me focused and determined to continue growing and improving as a core professional,” he said. 


Furthermore, Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, whose endless philanthropic activities and provision of succour to downtrodden Nigerians have earned him chieftaincy titles such as the Ebubedike 1 of Unweka Ancient Kingdom of Ebonyi state, Odozie Obodo 1 of Ameka Ikwo, Uzochukwu Wara 1 of Ekpelu Kingdom in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi state and Ide Jiulo 1 of Izzi Land, advised Nigerian youths, especially students, to be dedicated to their studies. 


“School is not a scam. Don’t let anyone deceive you. Once you are focused on your studies as a student and get well educated, you can create jobs and be an employer of labour after graduation, instead of complaining of unemployment. It is important to know what you want in life and put your energy into it, you will surely achieve your heart desires,” he said.


Similarly, Chief Asaga Christian, who is the owner of establishments like Cirenes Hotels in Kpiri-Kpiri, Abakaliki, Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites in New Haven, Enugu and Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites in Wuye, Abuja and C.Sagas Luxury Homes Ltd, advised Nigerians to be intentional and moderate while celebrating the yuletide and not spend above their means. 

About Dr AsagaArc. Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, Ph.D, the CEO/MD of C-Sagas Group of Companies Limited, hails from Ameka in Ekpelu community, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

He is a visionary leader, renowned philanthropist, exceptional entrepreneur, hospitality and tourism expert and a construction guru.  He holds a Master’s degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Architecture from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka and an honorary Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Entrepreneurship and Strategic International Business Management from the prestigious American-European University.  In his early forties, Chief Asaga Christian has demonstrated exceptional leadership ability through building a conglomerate of over 2,000 employees.

Chief Asaga’s generosity has impacted the lives of people through donation of transformers and gadgets for rural electrification to various communities, building and donating a townhall to Ameka Ikwo women and also the construction of a 2-storey building for Redeemed Christian Church of God and communities. 


He has donated over 50 cars to staff and NGOs, including building and donating befitting homes for senior staff. He has enrolled many youth into skill acquisition centres and empowered them to be self-reliable thereafter. 

Apart from building and donating an edifice to Deeper Life Bible Church, he has built market structures for some communities and also established a scholarship scheme for secondary and tertiary institution students. Architect Chief Christian Asaga Nwali is particularly popular for having the interest of his staff, family and those around him at heart, whether in Enugu, Abakaliki or Abuja, apart from also lifting numerous people from poverty by establishing businesses for them or building houses for them.


Following his philanthropic activities and humanitarian interventions, Dr. Christian Asaga Nwali, has in his employment over 2,000 Nigerians in his establishments, taking in his stride scholarship programs, youth empowerment, support to his employees, among others.


It is an annual culture for the hotelier to distribute cars to his staff and those around him. In 2019, he bought and distributed 8 cars to members of his staff. 


Again, in December, 2023, Architect Asaga Nwali, also distributed exotic cars to his staff in Ebonyi State, in appreciation of their contributions to the successes of the C-Sagas Group.


In March, this year, the C-Sagas Group built and donated a church building to Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC), Ameka, Ikwo, Ebonyi State. 


Just on December 14, he built and donated two units of 6-bedrooms duplexes and a 4-bedroom bungalow to three different families in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State, including his Manager, Engr Imeze Obinna, his elder brother, Mr. Nwali Nnamdi Asaga and a community elder, Mr. Chukwuma Ngwuta.


Also, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Chief Christian Asaga built and gifted a newly constructed, state-of-the-art 4-bedrooms bungalow, with boy’s quarters, properly fenced with gate, to his Project Engineer from Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State, Engr Donatus Azunku (aka MTN).


Many beneficiaries of his magnanimity are presently thanking the hotelier for lifting them from poverty in different ways.

Boundary Commission Rolls Out 2025 Strategic Plan For Boundaries Resolution For Economic Prosperity

National Boundary Commission NBC has outlined its strategic priorities for disputed areas in 2025, focusing more on boundary resolution that it believes will bring economic prosperity and promote peaceful coexistence, as well as to drive sustainable development across Nigeria’s boundary regions.

The plan includes deployments of drones, advanced geospatial technologies, Expand Public Awareness Campaigns, Strengthen Grassroots Conflict Resolution Mechanisms mapping tools to improve accuracy and efficiency in boundary management in the country for the coming year.

The Director-General of the commission, Mr Adamu Adaji, who was represented by Dr the Director of Internal Boundaries Dr Bulus Emmanuel, at the 2024 end of year media briefing in Abuja, said that the commission had partnered with key organisations to enhance technology integration in boundary management.

He stated that boundaries are instruments of unity, growth, and development to build bridges of cooperation, ensuring peaceful coexistence, as well as means of unlocking the full potential of nation and region.

While rolling out vision for the year ahead, Adaji expressed; “As we look forward to the future, the NBC is committed to expanding its impact and ensuring sustainable management of Nigeria’s boundaries. Our strategic goals for 2025 include:

“Accelerate the Resolution of Boundary Disputes: Strengthen collaborations with state governments, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to expedite dispute resolution and foster lasting peace.

“Expand Public Awareness Campaigns: Roll out nationwide sensitization programs to educate citizens on the importance of boundaries in fostering unity and national development.

“Strengthen Grassroots Conflict Resolution Mechanisms: Equip local leaders and boundary communities with tools for resolving conflicts amicably and sustainably.

“Enhance Technological Integration: Invest in advanced geospatial technologies, drones, and mapping tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.

“Promote Regional and International Cooperation: Advance cross-border agreements to enhance security, stimulate trade, and foster regional integration under the AfCFTA.

“Bolster Capacity Building Initiatives: Organize specialized training sessions on maritime law, conflict resolution, and boundary management.

“Operationalize the Extended Continental Shelf: Develop a roadmap for sustainable exploitation of maritime resources in compliance with international laws.

“Strengthen Data Management Systems: Collaborate with NASRDARMFAC (REVENUE MODEL) and other agencies for a harmonized geospatial database amongst others.

He used the occasion to reflect on NBCs achievements; ” The National Boundary Commission (NBC) remains steadfast in its mandate to resolve boundary disputes, promote peaceful coexistence, and drive sustainable development across Nigeria’s boundary regions. 

“The resolution of interstate boundary disputes remained a top priority for the NBC and in 2024, we made significant strides in the following areas: Interstate Boundary Department: Boundary Delimitation and Demarcation,

“The Anambra/Enugu Boundary disputes saw the introduction of an innovative and dynamic approach otherwise known as the “Anambra/Enugu Home grown Formula,” being introduced to resolve the interstate dispute between the sister states leveraging local engagement and political will to advance the demarcation process.

“Benue/Nasarawa Boundary: We successfully revived stalled pillar emplacement projects by harmonizing historical records and facilitating renewed dialogue between stakeholders.

“Kebbi/Niger Boundary: Technical committees were established to evaluate historical documents and execute boundary tracing setting the stage for peaceful resolutions.

“Field and Technical Exercises: Our team conducted extensive verification and alignment exercises on boundaries including Gombe/Taraba, FCT/Nasarawa, the Enugu/Kogi and determination of the Ekiti/Ondo/Osun tripartite point.

“These efforts demonstrate our commitment to ensuring accuracy, fairness, and peaceful coexistence along Nigeria’s interstate boundaries.

NBC also recorded successes in International Boundaries resolution as the Nigeria-Benin International Boundary, Nigeria-Niger International Boundary, Nigeria-Cameroon International Boundary and Community Resettlement Projects were carried out with great success.

 Speaking on the Challenges Adaji said, despite these successes, challenges such as limited resources, insecurity in certain regions, and stakeholder resistance continues to pose huddles.

He commended the  Federal Government, State governments, traditional rulers, development partners, and our border communities for their unwavering support as well as the Media for their unwavering support and for playing a critical role in disseminating accurate information and fostering.

He assured that, the NBC remains steadfast in its mandate to resolve boundary disputes, promote peaceful coexistence, and drive sustainable development across Nigeria’s boundary regions
