A Civil Society Group,Initiative Against Human Rights Abuse and Torture (INAHURAT Nigeria) and Human Rights Lawyers have accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) of undermining the enforcement of the court forfeiture orders on the landed property located at Plot 4022, Guzape District, and Plots 1861, 1862, and 1863, Katampe District Abuja delivered by Justice Obiora Atuegwu Egwatu on March 7, 2025.

The group described the lukewarm attitude of the commission toward the publication of the federal high court judgement on the interim forfeiture orders on the landed property as an affront on judicial directives, capable of undermining the judicial process.

Rebecca Omokamo Godwin Isaac (also known as Becky or Bilikisu Ishaku Aliyu) is said to be a close associate of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has been in the news for alleged forgery of title documents and power of Attorney of the property belonging to a 79-year-old widow, Hajia Colleen Mero Yesufu.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja , INAHURAT’s Lead Coordinator, Barr. Maxwell Chibuike Opara ( PhD) said the refusal of EFCC to implement and enforce of the forfeiture orders from the two federal high court judges Justice Emeka Nwite in December 2024 and Justice Obiora Egwatu in March 2025 undermines judicial authority and puts the entire anti-corruption fight in question.

Opara narrated how the EFCC Chairman in September 2024 invited only the suspect ( Rebecca ) for questioning and tried to pressure the 79-year-old widow into a settlement meeting without first hearing her side.

While faulting the approach of the EFCC Chairman for calling for settlement and negotiation between the real owner of the land, Hajia Collen Mero Yesufu and Rebecca.

He described such an approach as a license to further embolden criminals and humiliate victims.
INAHURAT called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene and prevail on the EFCC Chairman and act accordingly in the interest of justice just as it described as an egregious case of land fraud, obstruction of justice, and institutional misconduct involving the Nigeria Police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Opara also warned that if their demands were not met in the next few days, INAHURAT, Hajia Yesufu, and over 60 other affected land fraud victims would stage a protest to the Presidential Villa.

“We will no longer be silent. If justice fails, we will take our cries directly to Mr President,” Opara concluded.

According to the group, in November 2023, the suspect ( Rebecca ) obtained a court injunction using a forged Power of Attorney, cloned Abuja Geographic Information System ( AGIS) and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) documents, and a falsified police report dated August 22, 2014.

“That report, supposedly issued from Gwarimpa, Zone 7 Police Headquarters, is deeply suspicious because that’s where the current IGP previously served as Assistant Inspector General,” Opara added.

He also queried the relationship between the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Rebecca to have warranted a VIP police protection of fully armed policemen for a criminal suspect who is facing criminal trial. He accused the IGP of gross abuse of his office and for deploying police to shield and provide cover for her at the expense of tax payers money.
The group therefore called for Immediate withdrawal of all the police security assigned to protect her and the property she illegally occupied.

“ Comprehensive Investigation: The Police Service Commission (PSC), the Ministry of Police Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser must launch an independent, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the alleged misconduct of police officers, including the origin and use of the forged Police Report dated August 22, 2014.

“;Despite facing multiple criminal charges for forgery, fraud, and illegal occupation by the Police and EFCC, the IGP has continued to provide six fully armed police guards on Hajia Yesufu’s property to protect the accused. This is a brazen injustice that enables continued trespass and undermines the judicial process.

“ Use of Forged Documents and Perjury: In November 2023, the suspect allegedly secured a court injunction by falsely impersonating Hajia Yesufu, using a forged Power of Attorney and other cloned documents. Recent media revelations have further exposed a forged Police Report, purportedly signed by the DPO, Gwarimpa, Zone 7 Police Headquarters on August 22, 2014, which contains false depositions crucial to her fraudulent claims in court.

The fact that this report allegedly emanated from Zone 7 Police Headquarters, where the current IGP once served as AIG, adds a deeply troubling dimension to this case” The group noted

Tin City Warms Up for President Tinubu as North Central Embraces Renewed Hope

When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu berths on the plains and rolling hills that dominate the Jos landscape tomorrow, he will meet a people resourceful, friendly and resilient but weighed down by conflict, yet unbowed by adversity.

So, tommorrow, national attention turns to the Plateau- a locale laden with history and rich with potential. From the tin mines that gave the city of Jos its name, to the Irish potato, strawberry farms and beetroot plantations that dot its landscape, Jos remains a land of promise—truly the Home of Peace and Tourism.

Jos is also deeply woven into Nigeria’s political history. Plateau is home to towering figures such as Generals JD Gomwalk, Yakubu Gowon, John Shagaya, Joshua Dogoyaro, and Jerry Useni. Solomon Lar, Senator Ibrahim Mantu and numerous others also stand tall in the annals Plateau political history.

Jos was also the rallying ground of the famed Langtang Mafia—a group of influential military officers from Langtang in Plateau State who, at the height of their power, played a significant role in Nigeria’s political and military affairs.

The story of Jos is both exciting and excruciating. The city lost its innocence some two and a half decades ago, when the popular Terminus Market was reduced to rubble through acts of arson and looting.

Thus at the turn of the millennium by 2001, Jos—and by extension, Plateau—was thrown into a cycle of unending conflict. Ethnic tensions, clothed in religious garb, tore through the city and spread across the state, dragging Jos into an abyss of violence, almost of Kigali proportions. Peace gave way to war, and tourism jaunts became undertakings to the undertaker.

Yet Jos has never surrendered. Every time it is written off, it rises again—scarred, but resilient. With its multi-ethnic, multi-religious fabric, the Plateau continues to trudge on in pursuit of peace, development, and egalitarian ideals.

It was here, in Jos, that Nigeria’s democratic resurgence was birthed. The historic SDP convention, where late General Shehu Yar’Adua and Chief Moshood Abiola held sway, took place in this city. Jos gave political life to Abiola, our hero of democracy in 1992

Now, thirty three years later, another hero of democracy and of the June 12 struggle returns to the Plateau. President Tinubu’s return and visit to Plateau State is not just to honor the transition to glory of Nana Lydia Yilwatda, the mother of the APC National Chairman.

It is a visit that carries deeper meaning—one of empathy, solidarity, and renewed hope for a people who have endured decades of turmoil. It is a mission to preach peace, console the bereaved, bind wounds, and assure Plateau of its central place in the Nigerian project.

Mr President comes not just to mourn, but to reconnect. He comes to parley with the North Central, to commiserate with a people who have suffered, and to extend the hand of renewed hope. That Renewed Hope is laying a solid foundation as evidenced by Naira at N1,455 per dollar, rising Foreign Reserves at $43bn, Trade surplus heading for N25tr. Revenues up 411% and Inflation down to about 20 per cent. Over 600,000 students benefiting from NELFUND.

This visit is more than ceremonial. It is a journey into the very soul of a people who have known pain, yet remain resilient; a land scarred by conflict, yet still brimming with hope and promise. As the Tin City opens its arms, Jos will not just receive the President—it will receive a message of solidarity, healing, and renewal.

Tomorrow is about remembering the glorious past, confronting the present, and charting a path to a peaceful and prosperous Plateau within a united Nigeria. With President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Jos once again stands at the intersection of history and destiny.
