Dare Applauds Anyanacho Beirut Feat, Charges for Tokyo Medal
Minister of Sports has commended the recent performances of Tokyo bound Elizabeth Anyanacho, who just returned with a gold medal from the World Taekwondo G-2 ranked Beirut Open after winning a silver medal at the World Taekwondo G-4 ranked 2021 African Taekwondo Championships in Dakar a fortnight ago.
The duo of Elizabeth Anyanacho and Olympic medalist Chika Chukwumerije paid the visit to Mr Sunday Dare at the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports to thank the Honourable Minister for the role the ministry played in ensuring Elizabeth attended the last two preparatory events before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The Honourable Minister also handed the 22-year old Elizabeth to veteran Olympian, Funke Oshonaike, urging the seven-time Olympian to serve as a positive mentor to the Olympic debutant.
Elizabeth Anyanacho will be competing in her first Olympics, when she steps into the ring on 26th July 2021 to compete in the female -67kg.
It will be the first time in 16 years, and second time ever, that a female Nigerian will represent the country at the Olympics in the sport of Taekwondo.
