Eagles’ World Cup Failure: Ambassador Chris Giwa Calls For Calm Among Stakeholders
As football fans continue to react to the Super Eagles’ surprising failure to qualify for this year’s World Cup in Qatar, Ambassador Chris Giwa has urged Nigerians to stay calm in the face of the current disappointment.
in a Signed by Media Aide to Ambassador Chris Giwa, Micheal Obasi said that the Eagles last week Tuesday in Abuja failed to be among the five African Countries that will fly the continent’s flag at the Global showpiece in Qatar after a one-all draw with Ghana.
The first leg had ended in a goalless draw in Kumasi and the Eagles failed to qualify on the away goal rule.
Ambassador Giwa who still has a Supreme Court ruling backing him as the legally recognized NFF President said, ” I must say that though the defeat is very painful to swallow but we must put ourselves together and look ahead as quickly as possible”.
” I don’t think this is the time we should start talking about who is to blame for the ouster because the deed has been done and everybody involved should learn from this ahead of other Qualifiers”.
Ambassador Giwa further praised the turnout of the fans who filled up the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja to support their darling Super Eagles team.
” I was so impressed with the fans who made sure the Eagles did not lack support on the day. They filled the stadium and many were still outside which for me further showed again that football is one of the major unifying factors in the Country”.
Ambassador Giwa stressed that all hands must be on deck to ensure that this disaster does not repeat itself ahead of the 2023 Nations Cup in Ivory Coast and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

From Streets to Stardom: Unique Futbol Academy Scouting Program Inspires Ibadan’s Young Footballers
Ibadan is buzzing with excitement as the Unique Football Academy Scouting Program kicks off, bringing together top European football clubs and talented young Nigerian players.
The four-day program, which commenced on Monday, features a delegation of four directors from prominent European teams, including two from Kosovo and one from India, led by renowned football agent Diego Martins from Portugal.
The scouting program aims to identify and select outstanding players who will be given opportunities to showcase their skills in Europe.
Successful players will be offered the chance to take their careers to the next level, with the organizers assuring them of opportunities abroad.
According to the Director of the program and founder of Unique Football Academy, Mr. Jelil Oladimeji, this is not the first time the academy has organized such an event.
“This is the 4th edition, and we are proud of the progress and impact we have made so far in terms of exposing our raw talent to the European market,” he said.
The program has already proven successful, with several players from previous editions going on to excel in European leagues. Some notable examples include Haruna Saleh with PAOK in Greece and Praisegod Emersons in Slovakia.
As the program continues, clubs are gearing up to exhibit their talents, and the future looks bright for Nigeria’s young football stars.
