Edo APC Chieftain Sues For Peace As Appointment Of Hon. Momoh Sparks Protest.
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Edo state, Comrade Samuel Bello has called for calm, following the appointment of Hon.Abubakar Momoh as Minister of Youth.
The appointment of the 62-year-old Hon. Abubakar Momoh by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR on Wednesday has sparked protests from some APC Youths in Edo state, following what they described as a slap and disdain coming from the contributions of the state towards the emergence of the APC government at the centre.
Speaking to Journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Comrade Bello, the Candidate of the APC for the House of Assembly Akoko-Edo North Constituency in the just concluded general elections, and a grassroot Politician described the protest as a mere distraction, while urging the youths to support the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the whole essence of appointing ministers is to help Mr. President to discharge his duties.
“I want to appeal to youths in my state (Edo) who are not happy over the appointment of Edo state ministerial nominee as Minister of Youth because of the state’s contribution to the victorious outcome of the APC.
First, it is Mr. President’s prerogative to appoint and delegate duties; and also, the whole essence of appointing ministers is to assist Mr.President to discharge duties.It all centres on service to the country and not the state of orgin.” Mr.Bello stated.
He described as unpatriotic those who are claiming that some portfolios are jucier than the other, insisting that the task ahead is building the nation and supporting Mr. President to achieve his “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“Our focus is helping Mr. President to achieve his Renewed Hope Agenda and not debating on which portfolio is more juicier than the other.To me, this is unpatriotic.” Mr.Bello added.
On the task ahead for Hon.Momoh, Comrade Bello says “I am confident Hon.Momoh, who is a grassroot politician, will ensure the ministry fulfils its intended purpose by tapping into the potential of the youth for the nation’s development.”
The APC Chieftain added that he will continue to help the party and Mr. President to achieve the targeted goals of the federal government.

UCMPOO Names LG Coordinators to Drive Grassroots Mobilization for Otu, Odey

The United Cross River Movement for Prince Otu and Peter Odey (UCMPOO) has announced the appointment of coordinators across local government areas and state constituencies in Cross River State as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure.
In a statement issued by the UCMPOO Secretary-General, Victor Omaga Odoh, the movement said the appointments were aimed at expanding its grassroots presence and enhancing mobilisation ahead of the 2027 re-election bid of Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, and his deputy, Hon. Peter Odey.
According to the statement, the newly appointed coordinators are expected to coordinate the movement’s activities within their respective local government areas and constituencies, while strengthening engagement with communities and residents.
The appointed coordinators include Pastor Steve Atukamre for Obanliku; Hon. Augustine Ishong for Obudu; Hon. Chris Ogaidang for Bekwarra; Hon. Ega Mgbantul for Ogoja; Mr Mike Okwori for Yala I; and Hon. Godwin Igelle for Yala II.
Others are Elemi Eka for Abi; Hon. Charley Ikpi for Yakurr I; Butum Ubi Ofum for Yakurr II; Barr. Monday Akpere for Obubra I; Victor Okim Enang for Obubra II; Eric Ndifon for Etung I; Pastor Erune Erune for Etung II; Ogbuoba Margaret Okim for Ikom I; and Egbede Joshua for Ikom II.
The list further includes Hon. Harris Esor for Boki I; Mr James Dibang for Boki II; Hon. Mbora Mbora for Calabar Municipality; Comrade Inyang Udowong for Odukpani; Asuquo Adim for Bakassi; Michael Edem Bassey for Akpabuyo; Stephen Okon Effiong for Akamkpa I; Austine Ekuri for Akamkpa II; Chief Isaka Ekpenyong for Biase; Mike Archibong for Calabar South I; and Charles Etim for Calabar South II.
UCMPOO congratulated the newly appointed coordinators and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, commitment and a strong sense of service.
The movement said the appointments formed part of its broader efforts to establish an effective local government structure, deepen community engagement and coordinate grassroots activities across Cross River State.
It also called on the coordinators to work closely with stakeholders and communities within their respective areas to strengthen the movement’s organisational structure and outreach ahead of the 2027 political season.
