FCT FA Chairman Mouktar Honoured With Chieftancy Title In FCT

Philanthropist, Sports Icon and Chairman, Federal Capital Territory Football Association, Alhaji Adam Mohammed Mouktar has been conferred with a Chieftaincy Title, “Abegyi Bwaya” by His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Yaro (JP), the 17th Sa-Bwaya, Esu Bwari and Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers Bwari Area Council, FCT.

In a letter personally signed by the Royal Father to FCT FA Chairman, Mouktar, the Traditional Ruler, stated that, the title is in recognition of his good service and hardwork in development and progress of Bwari Chiefdom and the FCT in general.

The title, “Abegyi Bwaya”, means the Progress of Bwari, which no doubt is a refection of the positive impact his immense contributions have made towards the development of youths in the Bwari, the FCT and Nigeria in general. He has indeed raised the bar for his contemporaries to follow.

His exemplary leadership and feat achieved in the Sports sector is worthy of emulation, and has particularly inspired the youths to be diligent, resilient and forward thinking in a bid to achieving their dreams.

Mouktar said: I feel very honoured been confered with such a prestigious title. This is a huge motivation for me. This title is given to the most important people in the society. I didn’t see this coming as I have always seen myself as a tool in the Hands of Allah. I am passionate about society and human development especially in the area of job creation, skills acquisition, youth empowerment, among other things.

“As I look forward to achieving more with the support of all, let me humbly thank the Esu Bwari and the entire good people of the chiefdom for this great honour. I must also appreciate the FCT FA Family, my board members past and present, friends, media, sport loving people of the FCT and Nigerians”.

In my capacity as His Royal Highness, the 17th Sa-Bwaya, Esu Bwari and on behalf of Bwari Traditional Council Kings Makers, I hereby wish to confer on you a Traditional title as ABEGYI BWAYA (Progress of Bwari), Bwari chiefdom, FCT Abuja with effect from 1st January, 2025.1.5

The Traditional Title is in recognition of your good service record and hard work towards the development and progress of Bwari Chiefdom and FCT in general.

I will appreciate if you will kindly accept the Title in Written for record purpose.

FCT Golf association targets grassroots growth, Olympic success

The FCT Golf Association has unveiled ambitious plans to promote golf at the grassroots level while pursuing Olympic dreams for Nigeria.


Speaking to journalists, the association’s chairman, Mr. Akabong Enebong, expressed pride in the achievements of Nigerian golfers and reiterated the group’s commitment to further growth.


“Our athletes in golf have been doing exceptionally well, and as an association, we aim to help them achieve even greater success at the next National Sports Festival,” he said.


Akabong emphasized the importance of grassroots development, revealing partnerships with the FCT Education Board to establish golf academies and ranges in five schools, including those in Tundun Wada, Gwarinpa, and Garshi. “This initiative will not only develop future golfers but also introduce young students to the sport,” he explained.


The association also announced a partnership with former Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie, who transitioned to professional golf in 2019. After graduating from the Professional Golfers Association’s school in 2024, Odemwingie is focused on bringing Nigeria to the global golf stage.


“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Osaze, who will play a key role in grooming young golfers for the Olympics. This partnership reflects our belief in the potential of Nigerian youths,” Akabong added.
