FG disburses N15b to NFF in 7-year

In a bid to bring desired growth and development football in the country, the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has disbursed over N15 billion to NFF through budgetary appropriations and Presidential interventions in the last seven years.

The Minister of Youth and Sports development Sunday Dare stated this while presenting the 10-year Football Development Masterplan put in place by the ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Nigeria Football 10-Year Masterplan (2022-2032) identified Fifteen (15) Key Areas of challenge and provided practical recommendations to address these fundamental problems that have bedeviled football development in the country.

Minister said the present administration has disbursed over N15 billion to NFF through budgetary appropriations and Presidential interventions in the last seven years.

He also commended the President for the attention to football development in the country and laying a solid foundation for the growth of the game, the Minister described the 10-year Masterplan, which took the Ibrahim Galadima led 16-member Committee six months to prepare, as ”a world class document.”

The Minister said the prescriptions set forth in the 10 Years Football Masterplan, if followed through with the needed will and determination, would set Nigeria’s football on a very sure footing and position it amongst the best in the world.

“The implementation of the Plan will resolve most issues around the status of the domestication of Nigerian laws, NFF Statutes in line with FIFA Statutes and create room for harmonious relationships in the football value chain of this country.

” The Masterplan is envisioned to encapsulate functional strategies that would outlast the current administration and firmly place Nigerian football on the path to sustainable growth and development.”

Air Warriors Grieve Kano Basketball Secretary, Athletes Lost in Fatal Accident

The management of Air Warriors Basketball Club has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Kano State Sports Commission following the tragic death of Bashir Yargaya, the State’s Basketball Secretary, who lost his life alongside 21 others in a devastating road accident. The incident occurred as the team was returning from the recently concluded National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the club, Abdulmajid Solademi, the club expressed deep sorrow over the heartbreaking loss. He conveyed sincere sympathy to the family of the late Bashir Yargaya, as well as to the families of other athletes and officials who perished in the accident.

“This is a deeply painful moment for the Nigerian basketball community and the entire sports fraternity,” Solademi said. “Bashir Yargaya was a passionate and dedicated servant of the game who worked tirelessly to develop basketball in Kano State and beyond. His sudden passing, along with that of other athletes and officials, is a tremendous loss not only to their loved ones but also to the entire nation.”

The club chairman also prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for strength and comfort for their families and the entire Kano State sports community in this period of mourning.

Air Warriors Basketball Club joins the rest of the Nigerian sports community in honoring the memories of those who tragically lost their lives in service to sport and the nation.
