Flamingoes : My target is to secure world cup ticket-Olowookere

The Nigeria Women’s National Under-17 Football Team, Flamingoes, Bankole Olowookere, on Wednesday said his target is to secure the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup ticket for his team.

Olowokere said  that his priority is to see his team participating in the World Cup in India.

The Nigeria’s  Flamingoes will play against their Ethiopian counterparts in the final round, final leg of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup fixture at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday.
According to him, the task given to him is to secure tickets for the team.
“We have set our priority right now which is to get the tickets for Nigeria to be at the under 17 World Cup in India.
” We are going to get the tickets and we want to make Nigeria proud and we want to make ourselves proud as well,” he said.
He said the team is set to defeated their opponents on the return leg in Abuja.


“We have work so hard, most of the matches we have played and having gone to this far we have gone to Ethiopia to win the first leg.


“We are very much ready because as I have told you the only mission given to us is just to get the tickets.” This is the final one whoever win because there are three groups and will be on aggregrate.


“We won all our matches in our group stage, and we had a good aggregrate in them.We have defeated Ethiopia in the first and we will continue the momentum to win in the return match here in Abuja.

“We played all matches, in knockout stage we defeated Congo home and away ,we played Egypt, we win home and away.,” he said.


 Flamingoes won the first leg in Addis Ababa penultimate weekend 1-0.

The officials for the second match are scheduled to arive Nigeria on Thursday, led by Senegalese referee Mame Coumba Faye, who will take charge of proceedings.

The winner on aggregate will pick one of Africa’s tickets to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India, already scheduled for Oct. 11 to Oct.30.


 However  the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 7th edition of the championship will be held from Oct. 11 to Oct. 30 in three cities in India.

NEDC Disowns Circulating MSc Education Support Fund Application

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has warned the public against a fake and unauthorised message circulating on social media about an alleged Education Support Fund for Master’s degree (MSc) students.


The Commission, in a disclaimer signed by its management on Friday, described the purported programme, including its stated requirements and the alleged submission point at the NEDC office in Polo, Maiduguri, as false and unauthorised.


According to the Commission, it is not currently receiving applications for any MSc Education Support Fund as contained in the circulating message.


NEDC therefore urged prospective applicants and other members of the public to disregard the information and avoid submitting personal documents to individuals or locations claiming to be acting on behalf of the Commission.

It specifically cautioned the public against releasing sensitive documents such as National Identification Number (NIN) slips, admission letters, identity cards and indigene certificates in connection with the purported programme.

The Commission further warned the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes and the unauthorised use of NEDC’s name and identity to deceive unsuspecting applicants.

It advised members of the public seeking information on its programmes, interventions and opportunities to rely only on official NEDC communication channels and verified announcements issued by the Commission
