Fosla Boys Present NUGA Medals To Lulu, As Team Sinks Flight FC In NLO 1 Match
Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi on Wednesday was presented with the bronze medals of the Football event, won by Nasarawa State University Keffi at the just concluded Nigeria University Games held by the University of Lagos. The presentation was by his Fosla FC players who were part of the Nasarawa State University Keffi team that won the medals at the Games.
The brief ceremony which was held at the Fosla FC stadium Karshi Abuja before the NLO 1 Matchday 3 encounter between the Abuja based team and Flight FC of Makurdi.
It could be recalled that 7 players from the Fosla Football Club were among the Nasarawa State University Keffi football team that won the bronze medal of the football event at the 2022 NUGA games hosted by University of Lagos. The students are among the over 40 students from the Fosla Academy that are running various Academic programs at the University under the full scholarship of Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi.
The medalists who were led by the Fosla Football Club captain Abdulganiu Abdulazeez, who incidentally is the University’s Students Director of Sports, expressed appreciations to Alhaji Lulu for the financial and fatherly supports to them right from their Junior Secondary School levels, and promised to continue to represent the Academy, which he described as the foremost in the world, very well anywhere they found themselves.
Reacting, an elated former NFF President was full of satisfaction with the performance of Nasarawa State University Keffi Football team at the games , while urging the players to continue to work hard to win more laurels for their institution, Nasarawa State University Keffi, while upholding the good tenets that were imbibed in them while at Fosla Academy. He congratulated the boys, for honoring him and the School, and promised to continue to render his selfless services to indigent students who are naturally endowed in the sports. Fosla Academy has an existing agreement with the Nasarawa State University Keffi, where students from the Academy are allowed to undertake any academic programs of their choice at the University, after fulfilling all the prerequisite requirements for admission.
The boys later teamed up with their team mates in the Fosla Football Club to defeat the Flight FC of Makurdi by two goals to nil. The Matchday 3 encounter which was watched by the Chief Operating officer of the NLO Adeshola Ogunnowo, FCT Director of Sports, Istafanus Lukas among many others, saw the youthful Abuja boys scoring two second half goals to overcome the hard fighting Markudi team.
Allayi Haruna raised the curtain in the 63rd minutes, while Solomon Abraham took the game beyond the visiting team in the 88th minutes.
Fosla FC who are now on top of G1, will play their next match against Police FC also of Abuja.

President Tinubu Reaffirms Strong Support for Team Nigeria at 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged comprehensive support for Nigeria’s team as they prepare to compete in the Invictus Games, set to take place in Vancouver, Canada, in 2025. Representing the President, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, Senior Special Assistant on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, delivered this message of assurance during a sports training week organized by the Africa Unconquered Foundation. Hon. Isa emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration remains deeply committed to inclusivity and to supporting servicemen and women who inspire the nation with their bravery and resilience.
Hon. Isa highlighted a recent moment of significance when Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, visited Nigeria, underscoring the country’s support for the Invictus Games. Prince Harry’s initiative to establish the Invictus Games offers a space where wounded and injured military personnel can experience healing and achievement through sports. “Their visit shone a light on Nigeria’s dedication to the Invictus Games, reflecting the spirit of our servicemen and women,” he remarked. “President Tinubu’s administration is firmly committed to supporting our athletes, ensuring they receive the resources they need, and celebrating their journey to success.”
Derrick Cobbinah, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of the Africa Unconquered Foundation, explained the importance of the Invictus Games training week. The Foundation’s mission is to support the sports recovery journey of wounded, injured, and serving military personnel across Africa, including Nigeria. “This week, we are training 22 injured soldiers, preparing them for the Invictus Games next year in Vancouver, Canada. It’s an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its strength on the world stage, competing alongside other nations.”
Cobbinah emphasized that the Invictus Games concept has a profound impact on participants, especially those who have fought in challenging conditions, such as combating Boko Haram. For many soldiers who have faced trauma and physical injuries, the Games offer renewed hope and empowerment.
“For some, these events have restored a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and unity—something invaluable as they rebuild from their injuries,” he shared.

Team Nigeria will compete in five sports at the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver: archery, wheelchair basketball, swimming, wheelchair rugby, and para volleyball. As they prepare to represent the nation on an international stage, Nigeria is ready to rally behind them, honoring their resilience and the spirit of triumph that defines them.
