FRSC Female Team wins Ardova Premier League, secures Ticket 2025 Africa Cup Winners Competition

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Female Handball Team has made history by winning the Ardova Premier League for the fifth time, and securing a continental ticket to represent Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup Winners Competition. This achievement is a testament to the team’s hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.


Elated by the victorious outing, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed while receiving the trophy from the team, commended their tenacity, unmatched talent and excellent skills. 


He pledged his continual support to sporting activities so as to encourage fitness amongst personnel.


The Handball Team emerged unbeaten in the tournament having played a total of 18 matches and won all.


Among the trophies won by the Corps sporting teams in 2024 include; NUJ FCT Correspondent Chapel football tournament, Corps Marshal 1st Edition Paramilitary football competition, gold in the mixed doubles of the Rock-city Badminton Championship (Governor’s Cup) in Jos, and 3 bronze medals in the Comptroller General of Custom Military/ Paramilitary Wrestling Championship in October, 2024.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025. 


The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.


The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.

The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.


Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.


The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
