…As Master Class FC Secure Final Super Four Spot

Joel Ajayi

Future Guaranteed Football Club have emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the Rising Stars Football League. The club amassed a total of 52 points, securing the title and earning a Super Four ticket. This achievement will see them compete with three other clubs for the Super League title.

Future Guaranteed, New Dawn, and Chidex FA had already secured their top four spots before the final league day. The battle for the last spot was fierce between Delifresh FC, Master Class FC, and Bright Future Academy. Ultimately, Master Class clinched the final Super Four spot with a thrilling 2-1 win over Chidex FA. Although Bright Future Academy thrashed FC International 5-0, their efforts were in vain as it was too little, too late.

In the last match, Delifresh FC’s hope of securing the final spot were dashed after a 1-1 draw with Future Guarantee. This result, coupled with unfavorable outcomes in other matches, eliminated any remaining hope for Delifresh FC.

The league, played in a round-robin format, saw twelve teams—Delifresh FC, Emirates FC, Young Efficient, Master Class FC, FC International, Medical Strikers FC, Bright Future FC, Kolo Babes FC, New Dawn FC, F Liberty, Chidex FA, and Future Guaranteed—competing for top four spots and a chance to win the grand prize of eleven million naira (₦11,000,000).

Barrister Rotimi Alli, Chairman of the Ibadan Football Council, has expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to secure the maximum six points in their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Speaking at the September edition of the Ex-University of Ibadan Footballers Association virtual interactive session, “Guest of the Month,” Barrister Alli, popularly known as Libero, emphasized that the team’s success depends on the players’ determination and willpower.

“It’s not about the coaches; it’s all about the boys,” he stated. “With only two or three days of preparation, there’s little the coaches can do. It’s the players’ mindset that will determine the outcome. They must decide among themselves that they want to win.”

Barrister Alli believes that the caliber of players in the Super Eagles squad is more than capable of achieving success. “Considering the quality of players we have, there’s nothing stopping us from qualifying for the Nations Cup and the World Cup,” he added.

The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic and Rwanda in crucial AFCON qualifiers this weekend, and Barrister Alli’s optimism is a testament to the team’s potential. With the right mindset and determination, the Super Eagles can secure the maximum points and take a significant step towards qualifying for the major tournaments.
