Gwagwalada Football League Finalists Emerge; Organizing Committee Slams NIIMA FC of Passo

Bucknor Football Academy and Medical Strikers FC at the weekend emerged finalists for the 2023 edition of the Gwagwalada Football League.

Medical Strikers defeated NIIMA FC by a lone goal to finish tops of Group A with 7 points having won two matches, and drew one while Bucknor Academy Whitewashed Catholic Cadet FC by five goals to one to finished the Super eight with seven. They scored ten goals conceded three. In their last group match against Catholic Cadets FC, goals from the boots of Sani Saidu who scored a hat trick, Praise Anayo who scored two goals and Olatunji Abednego was all they needed to subdued the Catholic boys.

Bucknor Academy will now tackle Medical Strikers in the final at a date to be decided soon.

Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Committee of the League has slammed various fine on NIIMA FC of Passo, and some of its players and officials, following their unruly behavior in the match against Medical Strikers. Their actions ran foul of various articles guiding the tournament.

The Team Manager of the club Lamda Ramnap and four of his players Mohammed Sodiq, Daniel Dennis, Uzochukwu Kenneth and Chimobi Emeto were banned from all football activities organized in Gwagwalada for two seasons.

Dubois re-established himself in the heavyweight ranks with stoppage wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic before most recently knocking out compatriot Anthony Joshua, himself a former world champion, at Wembley in September to take his professional record to 22 wins, with two losses and 21 knockouts.

The 27-year-old Dubois was understood to be in talks to face Usyk in a fight that would see all four major world heavyweight titles up for grabs but the WBO’s announcement has complicated the picture in a sport where the lack of a single global governing body means there are often multiple world champions in the same weight class.
