Hand2Hand Foundation Donates Chairs, Books to FCT School
By Cyril Ogar
Determined to give Nigerian children a better and brighter future through education and sports, the Richard Agbonifo Hand2Hand Foundation, a non-governmental organisation advocating for underprivileged children and sports, Tuesday, donated essential items to Junior Secondary School Lokogoma, Abuja.
The foundation provided 20 desks with chairs, 60 drinking bottles, and 500 books to be distributed among the students.
President and founder o the foundation and former Nigerian international handball player based in Germany, Mr Richard Agbonifo, stated that the initiative aims to support students and improve the quality of education in Nigeria.
“As you can see these children are learning under harsh conditions; with some sitting on bare floors and it is not supposed to be so. This prompted us to construct these chairs, though not enough, but more will be coming soon. Thank you for accepting our donation,” Agbonifo said.
Agbonifo encouraged students to focus on their studies and maintain discipline, emphasising the lasting impact of their school experiences.
Director of Junior Secondary Schools for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Hajiya Ramatu Musa, expressed gratitude for the donation and called on others to support education, highlighting that it is a collective responsibility.
“We thank you for choosing this school. We have over 200 schools in FCT but for you to choose to support this school, it means a lot to us. Education is not the responsibility of the government alone but all of us, both individuals and private organisations,” she stated.
Chairman of the school’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Engineer James Musa, also thanked the foundation, acknowledging the significant relief it would bring to parents and students.
The Richard Agbonifo Hand2hand Foundation is championing a crusade of giving less privileged children in the society, a better lease of life through education and sports. Founded over two years ago, the foundation in the last two years made similar interventions in Cadet Handball (Boys & Girls), and Athletics for Children Aged 12 and Under in the FCT and across the country.
The foundation currently has over 30 students enrolled into its scholarship programmes across the country with two at the Junior Secondary School, Lokogoma

Corps Members have been advised to be patriotic towards National building and also use the opportunities of NYSC service year to positively invest in their future.
The immediate past Director of Information and Public Relations of NYSC, Chief Eddy Megwa, stated this during his motivational lecture to Corps Members at the Bauchi State Orientation Camp, Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the State.

The Retired Director, urged the Corps Members to deliberately work towards building a great nation that would compete among the comity of nations, because, “if things are working very well, the youths will not be desperate about relocating to other countries of the world for greener pastures”.
He discouraged the youths from irregular migration, describing it as a suicide mission, because of many risks associated with it, including avoidable deaths, jail terms among others, but equally advised them to follow the official travelling protocol if the need for foreign trip arises.
He also encouraged the Corps Members to strive for excellence in whatever they do, adding that they should leverage on the achievements of their predecessors.
“Do not put your names and your families’ names into disrepute by getting involved in crimes and other unwholesome activities. NYSC is not a safe haven for criminals”, he said.
The former image maker of NYSC described the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme of the NYSC as the panacea to graduate unemployment. He therefore advised the Corps Members to take advantage of the SAED programme by learning skills that would be useful and enable them become entrepreneurs.
He emphasized that the days of white collar jobs are over as the reality of today is self employment which is made possible by embracing Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship training.
The Public Relations guru advised the Corps Members Members to be security conscious as vigilance and self consciousness of their environment are key to personal safety.
Earlier, the NYSC Bauchi State Coordinator, Mr Kufre Umoren appreciated the retired Director for the visit and his words of motivation to both camp officials and Corps Members.
