Handball Commonwealth SG, Ocheho To Grace FCT U-12/U-15 Inter-Area Council Handball Championship Final

The Secretary-General, Commonwealth Handball Association, Mr Jibril Saidu and the President, Handball Federation of Nigeria, HFN Mr Samuel Ocheho will honour the final of the 2022 FCT U-12/U-15 Inter-Area Council Handball Championship.
The Technical Director, HFN, Bala Mohammed who disclosed that the two illustrious handball administrators in Nigeria will attend the final for the tournament on Saturday, May 7, lauded the FCT Handball Association for restoring the past glory of handball in the Federal Capital.
Mr Mohammed who is also the head coach of Road Safety Handball Club, said that what the Handball Board in FCT under the leadership of Ambassador Dr Edward Olutoke is doing in revamping grassroots handball in the nation’s capital is unprecedented.
“The Chairman of FCT Handball Association has reawakened what used to make FCT big.
“I was the first coach to take FCT Handball team to world tournament in Sweden as a staff of FCT Sports Council in 1993 and we won the trophy. The subsequent year we defended the trophy. This was as a result of Corporate Affairs Commission sponsoring the U-12 and U-15 of FCT then.
“After a long time, God have provided us with another good man who has the love of the game at heart and the children in the country especially FCT in particular.
“This tournament is a very good development for the HFN (Handball Federation of Nigeria) and I am going to make sure that even the president, and the Commonwealth Handball Secretary-General will come,” he told FCT Handball Association Media.
He expressed optimism that the Commonwealth Handball scribe will be in the final adding that he would do his best to make the President attend the final noting that his engagements would be stumbling block.
“I will talk to him (the HFN President) and if possible, I will ensure he is here but I am assuring you that the Secretary-General will be here. I will talk to the president to see if he can make it and come to this final.
“I will see what I can do but I am assuring you that the Secretary-General will be here, he is a board member of the federation. Possibly if the president will not be around he will ask the Secretary-General to represent him.”
He advised the board to stick together and work as a team to achieve more for the future of handball in the country.
“They have started something on a good note. I want a synergy, cooperation among the board and at the same time to improve on the things done in the past. I am very happy with what I have seen in the man, he is a leader that wants people around him to work and deliver results. I appeal to the board members to be able to give him maximum cooperation.”
The final of the 2022 FCT U-12/U-15 Inter-Area Council Handball Championship final will hold on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Multi-purpose Handball Indoor Sports Hall, Old Parade Ground, Garki Abuja.
