Igali Applauds Ogun State, Olopade for Impressive NSF Performance as Bayelsa Shines

Joel Ajayi Commissioner for Sports in Bayelsa State and President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Daniel Igali, has praised the excellent organization of the National Sports Festival hosted in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
From the grand entry of athletes to the rich display of culture, exceptional entertainment, and captivating choreography, the atmosphere was electric—delivering a truly unique and memorable sporting experience.
Speaking at the swimming pool of the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta on Thursday evening, Igali commended the seamless coordination of the entire event.
“The efforts of the organizing committee deserve the highest praise. It was evident that every segment contributed to unity and progressd of Nigeria.
“What we are witnessing in Abeokuta is more than a sports; it was a statement about Nigeria’s readiness to lead through sports to elevate talent in the country.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa State currently tops the medals table after five days of competition at the ongoing Gateway Games, with a haul of 30 gold, 12 silver, and 11 bronze medals—totaling 53.
Team Bayelsa demonstrated their dominance in weightlifting by clinching nine gold medals on the final day of the event, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, further asserting their supremacy in the sport.

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.
Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.
“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”
Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.
“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.
Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
