Veterans Invitational Tournament:Abuja All Stars, Corporate Kickers, Unity Veterans, USF Zoom to Semi Finals
Nyanya All stars hope of qualifying to semi final stage of ongoing Veterans Invitational Tournament were dashed after they failed to beat Capital Sportive in the final match of matchday 3 of the championship
Corporate Kickers with nothing to lose having failed to win any of their first two matches started on a brighter note and got reward for their display with a goal which they held on to till the end of the first half.
The second half saw more enterprising display from Nyanya All stars which resulted in them getting an equalizer but all efforts to get the winning goal that will secure them a pasdage to semi final proved abortive as they left the tournament with their tails in between their legs.
In the other matches played ,
Corporate Kickers Sports Club beat Gwagwalada All Stars by two goals to one while All Stars International defeated Like Minds All-stars 2-0
Unity Veterans thrashed Kuje All stars 4-0 to book a semifinal ticket despite being made to wait for the final match of the day before securing their semifinal sport.
Unity Sports Foundation against all odds will be playing in the semi final for the first time after they defeated Aleita All Stars one nil to secure their place.
Metro City were beaten by Lugbe All stars three nill despite the massive score line, Lugbe All Stars failed to make it through to semi final .
Speaking ahead of the semi final fixtures, Captain and Chairman of Unity Sports Foundation Benjamin Anaguoye said he is optimistic of his team’s chances of winning the tournament having made it to the semi final
‘to win the tournament you must beat every team and we want to win so we are not going to leave any stone unturned in our bid to win the championship’
Meanwhile former captain of All Stars Abuja Favor Ben-Johnson said he hopes his team can win the tournament especially with the quality of the technical crew and players.
‘i want my team to win the tournament because they have the best players and technical crew,so I think they will defend the trophy’
Abuja All stars, Corporate Kickers, Unity Veterans and Unity sports foundation are the four teams that made it to the semi final of the tournament slated for 23rd of July 2022 at FIFA Goal Project.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025.
The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.
The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.
The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.
Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
