ITF DG, Mr. Ari Receives Plateau Man of the Year Award on February 5, Wins Fellowship Award by UK based Agency

The Director General of Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Mr. Joseph Ntung Ari has ended the year on high notes, scooping multiple awards as the Plateau State Man of the Year 2022 in addition to a Fellowship Award by the Occupational, Safety and Health Association; a United Kingdom based association.
Mr. Ari who was voted the Plateau Man of the Year 2022 award, following an online votes by plateau people home and abroad as monitored between December 21st – December 31st, 2022 and confirmed by the Organizers of the event would be presented the award on February 5th,2023 at the Tamarald Event Center, Jos the plateau state capital.

Similarly,confering the fellowship honour on Mr Ari, the UK based Agency said the award was in recognition of the DG’s invaluable contributions to entrenching occupational health and safety in the Fund and ensuring that contributing employers adhere to occupational health and safety standards.

In his response, the Director General of ITF, Mr. Ari expressed delight and appreciated the Association for the award, noting that as the foremost human capacity development organisation in Nigeria, the ITF was charged with the responsibility of setting and maintaining training standards in all sectors of the economy and monitor adherence amongst other responsibilities.
“In the discharge of our mandate, the ITF has over the years implemented several training programmes in occupational health and safety for both staff of the Fund and our stakeholders, he noted.“

He said It was in recognition of the important place of occupational health and safety in organisations that the ITF made it a key criterion for granting training reimbursement to contributing employers.

According to him, “this is aimed at encouraging employers of labour to carry out safety training and adhere to safety protocols in their various organisations.“

Ari stressed that he is greatly delighted and honoured to have been conferred with the award of an Honorary Fellow of this great Association which he said is not only a rare privilege but also an encouragement to do more.

He also noted that the Year 2022 was a good year for ITF in terms of awards received and the achievements that were recorded despite the difficult operational environment.
Ari said ITF was committed more than ever to the full actualisation of its mandate for the overall economic and industrial growth of Nigeria in line with the vision of the Federal Government.

It would be recalled that earlier in the year, the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) presented the ITF Director General with an Award of Excellence for Exceptional Contribution to Human Resource Development and likewise the Business Education and Examinations Council (BEEC) who presented the DG an Award for Excellence in Youths Empowerment through training.

Other awards include the Leadership Newspaper Public Service Person of the Year Award for 2022, the Award for Manpower Training in the Extractive Sector on the Plateau by the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Association, the Honorary Fellow Award by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and the Award of Excellence in Human Capacity Development by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) among several others.
