IWD 2023: NEXIM Bank, Others Seeks More Attention For Women

The Managing Director, Nigerian Export and Import Bank (NEXIM) Mr Abubakar Bello, has urged all Stakeholders in the country to leave no stone unturned to ensure more support is given to women for them to excel the most in life.


This even, as he solicited gender equity and women’s empowerment to improve access to health, education, economic and political opportunities.

Mr Bello made this call weekend in Abuja during a family fun , organised by NEXIM Bank, in commemoration of the 2023 international Women’s Day (IWD) celebration with the theme: ” Digital: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.”

Export Bank Managing Director,  expressed that, women play significant role in every area of human development, hence the need to ensure they had access to opportunities that would further harness their potentials for the development of any nation.


According to him,  women should be celebrated all the time for their immense contribution to the society.


“We should not just celebrate women only on women’s day or month. Women should be celebrated everyday. This year’s theme, which talks about embracing equity, should not be celebrated only on women’s day, but all the time as we are talking about moving forward to the future.


“I believe if more support is given to the women, this life will be meaningful to them and to all.


“Every women’s day, we make promises on equal opportunities, equity, amongst others.”


The NEXIM Bank boss further added that the bank prioritises the well being and health of its workforce to ensure maximum productivity.


On her own, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons,Mrs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, stressed that, the need for programes that would bridge the gap for women to become independent and contribute to national development.


Also, speaking Country Director, Pathfinder, Dr Amina Dorayi,  encouraged women to prioritise their health, mental well being and eat healthy food and fruits.

Speaking on Ghana’s remarkable achievement, Minister Mustapha Ussif expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders and affirmed his commitment to further advancing the nation’s sports agenda.

He stated, “The remarkable progress we have witnessed at the African Games is a testament to the collective efforts of our athletes, coaches, administrators, and supporters. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am confident that Ghana’s journey to sporting excellence has only just begun.”

On the eve of the closing ceremony alone, Ghana clinched eight gold medals, winning the ultimate prize in women’s hockey, 200m men’s athletics event, high jump, men’s football event, and four boxing gold medals in boxing. All in one night.

Ghana also made history by becoming the first country to win god in both men’s and women’s football events at the Games.

The closing ceremony of the Games saw star performances from star acts such as Stonebwoy, Stanley Enow, Wiyaala, Innoss’B, amongst others.

As Ghana continues its upward trajectory in the realm of sports, the nation stands poised to achieve even greater milestones under the visionary leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Sports minister, Mustapha Ussif.
