Justice Gana Ashigar bows out service

Justice Gana Ashigar has bowed out of the Federal High Court and the Federal Judiciary on 1st October, 2022, upon the attainment of the statutory retirement age of 65 years

At the Special Court Session and the Valedictorian in Maiduguri Borno state, Honourable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, Ofr Federal High Court said the event was a celebration of a quintessential judicial officer, who not only excelled in his career but also in the development of the nation and humanity.

He described Justice Ashigar as a refined and erudite judicial officer who contributed immensely to the development of the country’s jurisprudence

According to him, it is definitely apposite that we are reveling in the contribution and life of the valedictorian for imprinting his mark eternally on the sands of time and in the chronicles of the Court.

“We are committed to ensuring that this hallowed practice continues, with the hope that it serves as motivation for currently serving Judges: that their grueling sacrifices will not go unappreciated.

 “Thus, the Hon. Justice Baba Gana Ashigar deserves all the encomiums he will receive today and in the future, for taking up the call of service and having discharged the service, without taint or blemish for many years.

In his farewell speech, Honorable Justice Baba Gana Ashigar who was  born 1 October, 1957 at Dikwa Town, Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State to the family of late Mallam Bukar Mala Amodu thanked everyone for their encomiums

He said: “I have come to a stage where I must say goodbye. It is sad but we must realize that moving on with the rest of our lives starts with a goodbye. Without doubt, anywhere I go, I will carry with me the sweet memories of this Federal High Court and its staff which I will always treasure and cherish the experience gained from years of working.

“The federal High court has trained me both within and outside Nigeria. I have been trained and made better equipped to face the challenges of the job. I have been trained in the USA, the Netherlands, Norway, Mauritius, the United Arab Emirates, and Cairo- Egypt. I have visited Sweden, Turkey, India and many African countries.

“Let me acknowledge the fact that I and perhaps, many of us might have made one mistake or another and caused inconveniences among ourselves for all these years. This is expected since we are human. May I therefore, implore everyone I might have wronged, to forgive such wrongs on my

Fish Programme Estate To Be Ready For Commissioning As FGSHLB Affirms Completion Of 116 Housing Units

The Executive Secretary of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB), Mr. Ibrahim Mairiga has announced that the 116 housing units of two-bedroom bungalows at FISH Programme Estate in Gwagwalada are almost complete and will be ready for commissioning

The ES stated this in the course of a site inspection of the Estate by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Mr. Mairiga confirmed that all necessary arrangements are being put in place in preparation for the commissioning. He assured that any remaining issues will be resolved before the proposed date.

Dr. Yemi-Esan, impressed by the progress, commended the FGSHLB for the development of the estate. She reiterated that the FISH Estate is specifically designed for core civil servants and expressed her intention to make the commissioning a highlight of this Year’s 2024 Civil Service Week in June 2024.

The HoSF also urged the Federal Ministries of Works, Power, and Water Resources to expedite action on their provision for internal roads, electricity, and water networks to meet the proposed commissioning date to ensure that the successful off-takers enter their houses without hassle.

The HoSF was conducted around the estate by the Executive Secretary of the Board and was accompanied by the Permanent Secretaries for Power (Mr. Mahmuda Mamman), Water Resources (Mr. Shehu Aliyu Shinkafi) and Works (Dr. Yakubu Kofar-Mata).
