Mouktar Congratulates Gusau, Osimhen, Oshoala, Others On CAF Awards Exploit

The Chairman of the Football Association in the Federal Capital Territory Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed has congratulated NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau for this great achievement. Mouktar was elated by what the NFF President has done in just one year in office which is a testament to his capabilities, and good intentions to run football and take it to enviable heights in Africa.

In a statement Signed by the Media Adviser to the FCT FA Chairman Uche Nwudoh Hillary on Tuesday in Abuja extolled the exploits of Nigerians in the continent.

He said: ” I am particularly happy for Gusau for this great achievement, it’s not easy considering the enormous work he is saddled with. We can see under his administration the Super Falcon players have done well both individually and collectively.

“A 24-year wait for the prestigious Men’s Africa Footballer of the Year happened in his time, also sweeping up the Women’s category of Best Player and Goalkeeper is a testament of his abilities and good intentions to run football as the results are evident for all to see”.

He also congratulated Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Super Falcons forward  Asisat Oshoala as well and Super Falcons Stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie for their remarkable achievements, securing the coveted titles of Men’s African Footballer of the Year and Women’s African Footballer of the Year as well as Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year respectively, at the prestigious 2023 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco.

Trio Nigerians was announced the winner at the Hotel Movenpick in a ceremony attended by top football officials and legends.

The Napoli forward beat the North African duo of Mohammed Salah (Egypt) and Achraf Hakimi (Morocco) to clinch the award.

While Asisat Oshoala won a record-extending sixth award as Player of the Year (Women), in a row.

Also, Chiamaka Nnadozie won the inaugural Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award, to solidify her position as the best goalkeeper in Africa.

In his congratulatory message, Alhaji Adam Mouktar said: “I am very happy, indeed this year has been hugely rewarding for Nigeria football and for our country as a whole. I congratulate Victor Osimhen, Assiat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie, and I congratulate the Super Falcons as a team for bringing us this honour.”

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025. 


The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.


The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.

The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.


Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.


The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
