My desire is to bring youth out of poverty, through sports-Sotomtochukwu Chidiebebe

The Proprietor of Paul E Football Club Mr Sotomtochukwu Chidiebebe revealed that his desire is to see many young Nigerians making their career through sports.
He stated this on Friday in Abuja during the commencement of 2023 Paul E under 17 Cup where 17 team will be squaring each others in the one week event.


He expressed that he do everything with his capacity to ensure many young Nigerians realize their dream through sports.
When asked why he is spending so much on the growth and development of grassroots in the country? He answered “Firstly, it’s passion and secondly it’s the love for others.


“Football sector in Nigeria is suffering, the grassroots is as good as gone, there is no grassroots so, what else can we do? that is why we trying to make an impact on our own way, and the best way to give that impact is to build a structure like this tournament for the young one to thrive.
“Government can’t do it alone, no individual can do it alone but with structure like this, people will see it and emulate it.
“And what does that do, it help grassroots that is main purpose of this tournament.
“We want to create an impact, help people, bring people out of poverty through sports as well get people off the street  through football.”


When asked if there will be any plan to developed young people after the tournament ? He replied: “Definitely, 100% plan for them, we have agents coming in, we decide not to make it public for reasons best known to us we have agents coming from Europe, Africa and the rest of the world.


“Not only that, we invited coaches, scout within Nigeria, we will be working together hopefully by the summer or next year we starts seeing the results of this tournament.”

NVBF seeks continuous partnership with Abia Govt after successful 2025 Nat Div 1 & 2

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) have expressed profound appreciation to the Government and people of Abia State for their outstanding support and collaboration during the successful hosting of the final phase of the 2025 National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues.

In a statement signed by Engineer Musa Nimrod, NVBF President, the federation commended Abia State for its warm hospitality and commitment to the development of sports, particularly volleyball.

Nimrod explained that the successful event was a result of the strong partnership between the federation and the state government.

He said, “The Board of Administration of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, on behalf of the entire volleyball community in the country, wishes to express profound gratitude to the Government and people of Abia State for their noble collaboration in organizing the final phase of Division 1 and 2.”

He further highlighted that Abia State is gradually becoming a hub for volleyball in Nigeria.

Nimrod attributed the growth of volleyball to the government’s investment in youth and sports development.

He emphasised the NVBF desire to sustain and strengthen this partnership to further promote volleyball and empower young athletes across the nation.

“The federation remains grateful and looks forward to a more robust and progressive partnership with the Abia State Government in the future.”
