NFF Election: Your Decision may make or mar Nigeria football, stakeholders Urge Electorates

As the 2022 Nigeria Football Federation NFF election is around the corner,  various stakeholders across the country has called on electorate to vote wisely saying that their decision on the 30th of September will make or mars the Nigeria football.


They gave this advise at  Stakeholders Interactive Session on the Upcoming NFF Election organized by Nigeria Football Progressive Forum NFPF on Tuesday in Abuja, where they said football is Nigeria national asset and a tool to use for national unity that must be protected.

While speaking, the convener NFPF Chidi Okonkwo urged electorates to vote wisely saying their decision on the forthcoming federation election will spell doom or change fortune of Nigeria football.


According to him, we can be better than any country in the whole world football wise, if we do the right thing.Let put our head together and do the right thing, 

“Of course we all have interest in differents capacity, but let put our head together and make the right decision.

“Giving the hint on the gathering, the Spokesperson for Nigeria football progressive forum Michael Obasi said the group comprises of  bi-partisan body of patriotic stakeholders committed to positive change, anchored particularly on the recently approved 10 Year Football Masterplan. 


“The Forum includes a number of progressive state FA chairmen and other technocrats including a grassroots football champion, the current 1st Vice President of NFF, who was also a member of the 10 Year Football Masterplan Committee and also includes a foremost technocrat, professional administrator and the most successful General Secretary of the NFF who was a Member/Assistant Secretary of the 10 Year Football Masterplan committee.”


Speaking at the occassion, the Former House Committee Chairman for Sports Hon Godfrey Gaya revealed that there is need for everyone to come together for the success of football in Nigeria.


He applauded all the aspirants for their dodgesdness and urged them to toll the part of truth saying “Fifa can’t make our football right or wrong but ourselves.”


Also, speaking, the Vice President of NFF Bar. Seyi Akinwunmi reiterated that the forthcoming federation election is not a do or die affair, it’s a competition among brother.


“Its all about bridged that gap between football and some part of government.”


On his own, the NfFf General Secretary Dr. Musa Ahmadu, expressed: “Sports preaches a lot of values, and one of them is fair play and we need to exhibit it in the forthcoming election by everyone who is associated with process.

“We must do it for the overall interest of the game and interest of our country.”


He demand integrity in who process of the election.

Gov. Abiodun lCommends NPFL for harmonised Calendar

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is excited with developments in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) which he said has been able to establish a pattern for its calendar.


Abiodun spoke while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by the President, Ibrahim Gusau and Chairman of the NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye. They were in Abeokuta to felicitate the Governor following the official presentation of the 2024/25 NPFL season trophy to Remo Stars.


The Governor said it is commendable that the NPFL season has been adjusted to run parallel to most global leagues which are concluded before the month of June.


“While the champions, our own Remo Stars from Ogun State was crowned on Sunday, there is just one more game to conclude the season which means the season will be shutting down this May just as will be the case with most European leagues. This is commendable”, remarked Abiodun who was in Ikenne for the elaborate trophy presentation ceremony.


He also lauded the NPFL Board led by Elegbeleye for organising a hitchfree season that produced a champion without rancor.


“It is to the credit of the NPFL Board led by my brother, Elegbeleye that we had this beautiful trophy celebrations today with all stakeholders united in agreement that we have a worthy winner in Remo Stars”, the Governor told his guests which also had in attendance, some NFF Board members including Ganiyu, Aisha Falode and Silas Agara
