NFF Lauds NPFL’s Progress, as Board and Staff, hold a Retreat in Abuja

Joel Ajayi
President of Nigeria Football Federation NFF Alhaji Ibrahim Gusua has heaped praises on the current board of the Nigeria Premier Football League for their unrelenting effort to change the faces of the league for the better.
He expressed that the NFF and League management are not rent to ensure more innovations is witnessed in the Nigeria League.
Speaking at the first-ever retreat of ) staff and management of NPFL on Wednesday in Abuja, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau rated the performance of the NPFL high and advised that the league management make the training of staff an annual event.
The retreat which was being held to train staff and review the operations of the NPFL in the last year and develop strategies for improvement, is the first ever such development study event to be held in the history of professional football administration in the country.
According to him, one of the most things is for us to have competent staff and them having good synergy with the board. I am also happy to be part of the NPFL board organizing the retreat because I know this is the type of thing we are working on, you can’t say you have a good secretariat without training and retraining the staff. and I hope this will continue, let it not be the last, if possible let’s make it an annual event because the only way to assess the performance of our staff is by making sure we are giving them training at every point in time and is also important for us to consolidate more at our work and analyses it.
“And, I think after this retreat some of the lapses last season are going to see some changes to them, so I want to encourage you more on how we can contribute to organizing some of this retreat for our staff and not only for the staff. We should also go back to the club because we have a lot of problems, with clubs especially those staff managing the clubs at various levels.
So, is important for us to look into some segments of those staff working with the club. To ensure we give them some light retreat of what we really want, where we are going, and how we want to go about it.”
In his earlier remark, the Chairman of the NPFL, Gbenga Elegbeleye assured Nigerians that the league will witness more development under his watch.
