Nigeria can host the FIVB World Youth Championships says Malhotra

International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), Director of Technical and Development Department, Hitesh Malhotra says Nigeria can host the FIVB World Youth Championships.

Malhotra disclosed this during the facility tour with members of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Friday.

Malhotra expressed satisfaction with indoor hall of package B and the velodrome facilities at the package A of MKO Stadium.

He revealed that Nigeria have the human resources as well as manpower to host the age grade championships.

He said, “We have visited some of the volleyball facilities in Abuja and our verdict is that Nigeria can host the FIVB World Youth Championships if they apply.

We visited the indoor sports hall and velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) officials also visited the outdoor volleyball courts at the package B Stadium, Life Camp court and Beach Volleyball court at Jabi Lake.

“With the league organisation I watched in the last three days, Nigeria have the human resources and manpower to host any World Championship”.

World Volleyball Champion, Gilberto Amauri de Godoy Filho also known as ‘Giba’ appealed to the leadership of Nigeria Volleyball Federation to apply for the hosting rights of age grade World Championship events.

Giba said, “Nigeria is blessed with potential world champions in the nearest future and hosting a World Championship will assist in shaping the mentality of the younger players. I am appealing to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation under the leadership of Engineer Musa Nimrod to apply for the hosting of the FIVB World Youth Championships.”

Responding, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod applauded FIVB for visiting the country in order to access the developmental programs.

Nimrod said the visit has put the Federation in it’s toes adding that every observations made will be worked on

Present at the facility tour are; President of Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3, Ali Yaro; the 1st Vice President of NVBF, Professor Olatunde Morakinyo amongst others.

Tangerine APT Pension Crowned New Kings of PFA Games 2025

Joel Ajayi Tangerine APT Pension stormed the 2025 Pension Fund Administrators Games and snatched the crown with a commanding 66 points—ending FCMB’s reign and announcing themselves as the new champions of corporate sporting excellence.


From the first whistle to the final scoreboard, Tangerine APT played like an organisation possessed. They dominated volleyball and snooker, showcased brilliant tactical depth to finish second in chess behind Norrenberger, secured second place in team bonding behind Premium Pension, and held their own across the board—fourth in football, sixth in table tennis, fifth in scrabble, and eighth in e-sports, press conference, discipline and grooming. Every point mattered, and Tangerine APT grabbed them with fire.


Defending champions FCMB, despite flashes of brilliance, simply could not summon last year’s magic.

They finished second overall with 63 points—just three points behind the new champions. FCMB were first in scrabble, second in football, third in table tennis and e-sports, fourth in snooker and team bonding, and fifth in volleyball, chess, and press conference/discipline/grooming. A brave defence, but not enough to stop the Tangerine wave.


Rounding off the podium is NPF Pension, finishing third with 57 points after a spirited campaign. They claimed gold in football, second in table tennis and e-sports, third in volleyball, fourth in scrabble, sixth in press conference/discipline/fanfare/most coordinated, seventh in chess, and eighth in snooker and team bonding.


The rest of the table saw fierce competition:4th – Norrenberger Pension: 52 points, 5th – Premium Pension: 47 points, 6th – NNPC Pension: 45 points, 7th – Access Arm: 41 points
In Others position 8th – Trustfund Pension: 29 points 9th – PENCOM: 28 points and 10th – NUPEMCO: 25 points.


With the dust settled and the cheers still echoing, one truth stands tall:Tangerine APT Pension has ushered in a new era—bold, dominant, and unforgettable.
