NIS Confers Fellowship on Lalong, Soname, 4 Others

As part of activities  to  mark the 9th convocation ceremony   and  to commemorate the 50th year anniversary of the National Institute for sports Lagos,  6 eminent Nigerians  including the pioneer Principal  are to be confered with the  Fellowship of the Institute. 

According to  the  Director-General National Institute for sports Professor Olawale Moronkola  the recipients are:    former Plateau  State Governor Senator  Simon Bako Lalong,  President  General of Nigerian football and other sports supporters Club Dr Rafiu Ladipo , veteran  broadcaster Dr Danladi Nasir Bako,  business mogul  Honourable Kunle Soname,  Airpeace Chairman Barrister  Allen Onyema, Special  Sports Olympics  Gold medalist Ms Lucy Ejike and Late Principal  of the NIS Dr Awoture Eleyae.


They   will be confered  with the Fellowship of the Institute  on 30th January  , 2025 at the convocation  ceremony and 50 years anniversary  celebration  of the Institute at the Gymnasium  Hall   in Lagos.


The awardees are being  honoured for their contributions to the development of sports   in Nigeria  over the years.


Apart from the awards, other events lined up include the pre- convocation  lecture, 9th special convocation,  50th year anniversary lecture   and  alumni  dinner/ Awards night.


While the pre convocation  lecture  is to be delivered by Lagos State University Don Professor  Abiodun Moronfolu, Broadcast icon Dr John Momoh  will be the Chairman  of the  50th year anniversary  lecture.


There will be awards of certificates  to graduands and special recognitions  to oustanding students.

FCT FA Chairman Mouktar Congratulates Muslims on Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

The Chairman, Federal Capital Territory Football Association, (FCT FA), Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, the Abegyi Bwaya of Bwari Chiefdom is felicitating with Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on this year’s celebrations of Eid-ul-Adha.
He congratulates brothers and sisters in Islam on the occasion, describing it as a time to reflect on the goodness of Almighty Allah. 
“I want to congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters on this beautiful celebration.”
“We should once again be reminded that,  the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha is to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah SWT and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail. At the very point of sacrifice, Allah SWT replaced Ismail with a ram, which was to be slaughtered in place of his son. This command from Allah SWT was a test of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question. Therefore, Eid-ul-Adha means the festival of sacrifice.” 
“This period and beyond we should be filled with acts of worship and good deeds. It is a time for gratitude to Almighty Allah for His countless mercies upon us as individuals and a nation.”
Mouktar is further charging Muslims and non-muslims to always pray and work towards the growth and development of Nigeria as we navigate the challenging time.
