Noma Memorial Under 17 Football Tournament Ends in Bauchi

The Noma Memorial Under 17 Football Tournament, sponsored by Justice Hamidu Kunaza, has come to a close in Bauchi, with the Bauchi Under 17 team emerging as champions. They secured their victory by defeating 3SC of Bauchi Under 17 team with a lone goal in the final match, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

The winners took home a giant trophy and cash rewards, while the runners-up and third-place teams also received cash prizes. The Chairman of the Bauchi State Football Association, Mr. Pascal Patrick, praised Justice Hamidu Kunaza for his contributions to grassroots football development and encouraged others to follow his example.

Justice Hamidu Kunaza noted that the tournament, which will become an annual event, was organized in memory of his grandfather. The competition aimed to provide young players with a platform to showcase their talents. Kunaza also commended Mr. Pascal Patrick for his efforts in transforming football in Bauchi State. The tournament discovered talented young players, who will soon participate in scouting programs. A total of 42 youth football clubs from Bauchi metropolis took part in the competition.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025. 


The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.


The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.

The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.


Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.


The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
