Lobi Stars FC in match day 1 plucked a point in Owerri against Heartland Pride of Benue and their eyes on 3 points in the premier league rivalry in an important tie on Sunday.
The lads during the week’s intensified preparation have been working under the guidance of the technical crew both physically and tactically to sort out the grey areas to bring entertainment to the home fans who will be trooping in numbers to cheer their darling team tomorrow by 4 pm.
It will be recalled that both teams met on three occasions during the just concluded NPFL 2023 abridged league season, Lobi Stars Won 1 once while the Akure-based side won twice on Head to Head.
However, Lobi star will parade Stars like Adebayo Waheed, the enterprising winger who opened his account for the “ShoeGetsSize” boys in the new season and will contribute his quota when called upon.
While Francis Odinaka who scored the second goal, limped off the pitch due to a nock in Owerri and was seen working hard on the pitch, the utility player will add his wealth of experience in the middle to dislodge his visitors when called upon.
As Moses Tsehuan who has shown solidity in the defense line, will surely give his all to curtail the visitor’s onslaught.
The visitors will no doubt have a game plan, after securing maximum points on matchday1 against Kano Pillars, they will be inspired by the result approaching the tie in Lafia.
ABOUT THE VISITORS
As for Akure boys, the Players to watch include; Taiwo Abdurafiu, the left-back who switched his services from Bayelsa United to the Akure-based side, and is likely to be named on the starting lineup.

With 29 days to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), Nigeria is stepping up preparations to host the continental women’s team golf championship, with the extensive rehabilitation of the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja providing a major boost to the country’s readiness.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja Director of Communication AACT 2026, Kayode Adeniyi said the Club’s Board of Trustees has assured that the facility will be fully prepared to welcome golfers, officials and delegates from across Africa when the championship tees off on November 2.

The IBB International Golf and Country Club has undergone extensive rehabilitation following its closure to regular golfing activities for more than a year. Justice Dongban-Mensem expressed confidence that the rehabilitation programme would be completed in time for the AACT, further reassuring stakeholders that the Club would be ready to host Africa’s leading female golfers.
Chairman of the Club’s Interim Management Committee, Peter Deshi, also expressed optimism over the progress of work, with regular golfing activities expected to resume ahead of the championship.
For the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), the readiness of the host venue remains a critical component of the country’s preparations.
President of the Association, Dr. Lami Ahmed, has similarly expressed confidence in Nigeria’s preparations to stage a successful championship.
The 2026 AACT is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
