NPFL To honour Ogunmodede, Anas In Abuja On September 2

Standout performers in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Yusuf Anas and Coach Daniel Ogunmodede are set to be rewarded on Tuesday, September 2 in Abuja.

The award and reception was held up due to the engagement of the duo in the preparations and participation of the CHAN Eagles team.

Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, the NPFL Chairman disclosed the new date and said it is pursuant to the board’s policy to promote excellence through the reward.

“It has been our policy to encourage players, coaches and the entire team to elevate the quality of our league football through outstanding performances.

“We have consistently reward our best club richly and the highest goals scorers and best performing coach in conjunction with our investment partner, GTI Assets Management”, explained Elegbeleye.

Anas of Nasarawa United, was the top scorer with 17 goals while Ogunmodede led Remo Stars to a historic title success for the first time since the club was founded.

The NPFL Chairman said each of the award winners will be paid N1.5m and also presented with a commemorative plaque.

The esteemed accolade was presented during SWAN’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration, held in Abuja, marking 60 years of excellence in sports journalism across the nation.

Upon receiving the award, Salifu expressed profound gratitude, describing the honour as a source of inspiration and renewed motivation to further his lifelong dedication to sports reporting, promotion, and growth.

“This award gives me hope and motivation to do more. It’s a source of inspiration for me and my family, and I believe it will encourage me further in sports reporting and sports development in Nigeria,” he stated.

Salifu highlighted that this recognition serves as a morale boost following decades of hard work and impactful contributions within Nigeria’s sports community and beyond.

The SWAN Diamond Jubilee Celebration attracted prominent figures from sports administration, the media, and government sectors to celebrate individuals and organisations whose efforts have significantly advanced sports development and journalism in Nigeria.
