NPFL U-17 Humble Mighty Jets FC in a tune-up Match

A goal in each half by Bolaji Akhigbe of Remo Stars and Siefar Jackson of Rivers United, saw the NPFL U-17 side beating Nigeria National League side, Mighty Jets of Jos at the FIFA Goal Project area of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The game which served as one of the tune up matches for the NPFL U-17 Youth League All-Star team in readiness for their summer tour of Spain, also served as a pre-season preparatory game for the Jos based side, who also will be campaigning in the nation’s second tier League.
Despite going ahead via a header from a 25th minute corner kick, Team NPFL dominated play throughout the first half like it was a championship game.
The same approach and style of play was deployed in the second half until the second goal was scored, while a couple of chances begged to be converted.
In his post match reaction, the handler of the team, coach Ken Chukwu of Rivers United FC stated that: “It’s a great privilege to be saddled with such a noble responsibility and we won’t take it for granted.
“I sincerely appreciate the NPFL board for finding us worthy to serve in this capacity.
“Mighty Jets FC is one of the oldest football clubs in the country and I personally respect them, but we told the players our game plan and how to get it executed in order to achieve success, and we came out tops.
“The main objective here is to build a team for the tour and that is what we’re doing, he said.
“We will keep building to get the very best that will give us good representation when the main assignment comes, coach Chukwu concluded.”
