NPFL writes FCPCC on illegal Top Scorer Award

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has again frowned at the deliberate flouting of its naming right by unscrupulous corporate organizations and their collaborators as organisers.
The Chairman of the NPFL, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye made the observation on the heels of an announced Eunicell Boot Award for the highest goal scorer in the just ended 2024/25 season.
Elegbeleye said the league appreciates value adding schemes such as the proposed payment of N3.6m awarded to Anas Yusuf, but he insisted that there are laid down procedures for organizations to partner with the League in organising awards.
“It is not right for any persons or organisations to use the name of the NPFL and announce an award without recourse to the asset owners.
“We are going to use every legal channel to protect our asset from this ambush of the NPFL. We will write to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission so that this illegal activities will stop once for all”, the NPFL boss stated.
He said that the NPFL has the identity of the organisers of the award and has therefore warned the organisers to desist it such the forthwith in their interest.
“There must come a time when we must have to put a stop to end impunity no matter how long the illegality has been going on. This is the time and we must get things right”, Elegbeleye concluded

NVBF President, Engr Nimrod Urges Families to Embrace Healthy Living at HOBA Novelty Sports

Joel Ajayi
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.
Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.
“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”
Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.
“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.
Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
