NPL Board, Clubs hold AGM, Draw in Abuja on August 29th

Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Board and the 20 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs have scheduled the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Tuesday, August 29.
Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer in a notice of the AGM to all the clubs explained that the date will allow for a very effective organization of the season’s activities.
The notice to the clubs also stated that the Draw Event for the 2023/24 season would still hold on the same date as the AGM in Abuja.
The clubs were reminded that player registration which commenced earlier will continue. They were urged to use the available window before kickoff to complete the documentation process for their squad.
After their inauguration, this will be the first AGM between the clubs and the new NPL Board headed by Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye.
The board last week set up a Technical Committee for the selection of NPFL Team of the Month and ultimately an All-star team that would go on a tour of Spain at the instance of a top La Liga club.
Elegbeleye, while inaugurating the nine-member committee remarked that it could help the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have a nucleus of the next CHAN Eagles side.

Montage Community Football Tourney Registration Ends October 30

Registration for the 2026 edition of the Montage Community Football Tournament will close on Friday, October 30, organisers have announced.
The tournament coordinator, Mr Raphael Ekpang, disclosed this on Thursday, urging interested teams across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to take advantage of the remaining days to register.
Ekpang said registration had been ongoing since Monday, encouraging eligible teams to complete the process before the deadline.
The tournament, themed “Montage FM 99.7: Empowering Youth, Uniting Communities Through Football,” is scheduled to kick off on November 3, 2026, with playoffs across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
The grand finale will hold on December 5, 2026, at the Old Parade Ground, Garki Area 10, Abuja, where the top four teams will compete for first-, second- and third-place honours.
A total of 48 teams will participate in the competition, with eight teams representing each of the six Area Councils.
The participating teams will compete for cash prizes worth over ₦2 million and other valuable rewards.
