NSF Gives Hint On New Shooting Range Abuja

Nigeria Shooting Federation NSF has hinted that the federation is leaving no stone unturned to ensure they build world standard new shooting range in the federal capital Territory.

President of the Nigeria Shooting Federation NSF Navy Captain, Bamidele Olatunji Ayoade gave this hint at the just concluded 3rd edition Late Major J.O Ojo  National Championship organized by the federation for his contribution to the development of the Shooting Federation in the country.

Over 100 shooters in eight agencies includes; DSS, EFCC, Correctional Service, Road Safety, Navy, Nigerian Army, NSCDC and Air force and others shooters across the 36 states of the federation participated in the event.

When asked if he is comfortable with the state of the facilities at the shooting range inside Moshood Abiola National Stadium package B? he replied: “let me let cat out of the bag, the federation is approaching the ministry of the FCT for allocation of befitting land to build the world clash shooting range, we wanted to build it in the stadium but we do not have that space so we are going to approach the FCT for a land that will enable us build the befitting shooting range for Nigeria.”

However, 12 shooters will on today’s Wednesday resume camp in the Nigeria Capital Territory to commence preparation ahead of the Shooting World cup slated for Cairo Egypt.

Speaking on the federation preparation Navy captain Ayoade assured that the Federation will continue to strive for the best.

“We shall commence the technical meeting where those that will represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Shooting World Cup in Cairo Egypt after which we will open camp for the athletes. The camp will be open on Wednesday which will enable the Federation to select shooters that will represent Nigeria at the forthcoming world cup in Egypt.”

The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has unveiled a groundbreaking partnership with Abbey Rangers Football Club, a renowned community football institution in the United Kingdom, marking a new era in grassroots football development in Nigeria.

Under this strategic alliance, Abbey Rangers FC will collaborate with the Lagos State Sports Commission to implement a robust seven-pillar framework focused on:
talent development, coaching enhancement, sports science, community engagement, policy support, resource mobilization, and infrastructure growth.

The partnership is a first of its kind between Nigeria and a UK-based community football club and aims to create a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive football ecosystem in Lagos State. It promises to unlock new international opportunities for young athletes and coaches, offering pathways for advanced training, mentorship, and global exposure.

Speaking at the official unveiling, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, described the partnership as “a landmark step in Lagos’ mission to build a sustainable and inclusive sports ecosystem.”

“This collaboration represents a deliberate effort to connect Lagos with global best practices in grassroots football development,” Fatodu stated.

“Abbey Rangers brings proven expertise and community-driven values that align with our vision to nurture world-class talent and position Lagos as a continental hub for youth sports excellence.”

In his remarks, Abbey Rangers Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nick Riley, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that it reflects the club’s long-standing commitment to community-driven sports development.

“We are proud to partner with Lagos State on this visionary initiative,” Riley said.

“Abbey Rangers has always believed that community football is a powerful tool for development, inclusion, and opportunity. This collaboration allows us to share our grassroots model and experience with one of Africa’s most dynamic cities.”
