NUJ/FCT Correspondents’ Chapel Unveils Chikelue Iloenyosi As Brand Ambassador for 2nd Edition of Football tournament

FCT Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Tuesday in a grand style unveiled the former Super Eagles defender and the current Chairman of Anambra State Football Association Chikelue Iloenyosi as brand Ambassador for the 2nd Edition of  Football tournament slated for July 11th to13th of July 2024.


The three days tourney will see the team from organisations like; Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Federal High Court (FHC) compete for honour inside the Area 10 football pitch Old Parade Ground.
Other teams includes; Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Federal High Court, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), AIBEN Group, Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the mother of them all Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Speaking at the Press Conference, the draw and unveiling of it’s brand new Ambassador  Chikelue Iloenyosi who has built a reputation as one of the most impressive players and now Administrator per excellentthe Correspondent’s chairman Jide Oyekunle said the aim is to  strengthening the relationships between the media and participating organizations.


According to him, today marks another milestone in the history of Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Correspondents Chapel with the hosting of 2nd Edition of our Football Tournament tagged “Football for Friendship and Peace.”


“The 3- Day tournament is aimed at strengthening the relationships between the media and participating organizations. We are using football to promote and shape the synergy with these organizations particularly the security agencies whom our members always interface with on a daily basis.


“Football does not have language. Football is an integral activity that unites the people and has the power to change the world irrespective of the religion, ethnic and political background.


“Football makes people forget their differences because it is a unifying factor. It heals the wounds and bonds people.


“It is one of the antidotes for physical fitness and mental health and alertness which we all need particularly in face of the present economic reality and hardship.


“As one of the improvements compared to the maiden edition in 2023 when eight (8) teams participated, It is my pleasure to inform you that fourteen (14) teams drawn from the security agencies, government organizations and professional bodies will be participating in this 2nd Edition of the tournament.”


While speaking the brand new Ambassador Chikelue Iloenyosi promised to support the tournament massively, while he thanked Organizer for the honour given to him.


“I am happy and honour to be here. Because of the development I am putting in place in Anambra, for the first time he put sport in the budget, it’s because of the work we are doing.
“Not only being ambassador, I am going to support massively, individual I have capacity I will support you.”

Super Eagles Can Secure Six Points Against Benin Republic and Rwanda – Barrister Alli

Barrister Rotimi Alli, Chairman of the Ibadan Football Council, has expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to secure the maximum six points in their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Speaking at the September edition of the Ex-University of Ibadan Footballers Association virtual interactive session, “Guest of the Month,” Barrister Alli, popularly known as Libero, emphasized that the team’s success depends on the players’ determination and willpower.

“It’s not about the coaches; it’s all about the boys,” he stated. “With only two or three days of preparation, there’s little the coaches can do. It’s the players’ mindset that will determine the outcome. They must decide among themselves that they want to win.”

Barrister Alli believes that the caliber of players in the Super Eagles squad is more than capable of achieving success. “Considering the quality of players we have, there’s nothing stopping us from qualifying for the Nations Cup and the World Cup,” he added.

The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic and Rwanda in crucial AFCON qualifiers this weekend, and Barrister Alli’s optimism is a testament to the team’s potential. With the right mindset and determination, the Super Eagles can secure the maximum points and take a significant step towards qualifying for the major tournaments.
