NUJ, SWAN, Friends To Hold 2nd Memorial Lecture For Late Jide Fashikun

Nigerian Union of Journalist NUJ (FCT Council), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria FCT SWAN and friends of the Late Jide Fashikun are set to hold the second memorial lecture for our late friend and colleague, Mr.Olajide Fashikun who died on 27th January, 2019.

It will be recalled that Late Fashikun died after brief illness two years ago. The topic for this year’s lecture is titled: “Building Lasting Legacies with Journalism.”

We are glad to announce the second memorial lecture for our late friend and colleague, Mr.Olajide Fashikun who died on 27th January, 2019.

“This year’s remembrance is in conjunction with Friends of Jide, the NUJ (FCT Council) and FCT SWAN.

“Organizers have carefully selected Barrister Solomon Dalung, the immediate past Minister of sports and veteran broadcast journalist, Dr. Ameachi Anakwue of DAAR Communication as guest speakers.

“This event holds on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at the FCT NUJ Council by 12 noon.

“We are grateful to FCT NUJ Council led by Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche and the FCT SWAN, led by Comrade Chidoka Nwabueze for their unflinching support.

“Invited guest are to observe all COVID 19 protocols as provision has made for others to join virtually.”

Hon. Jabiru Abdullahi Encourages Nigerians to Embrace Eid Values of Sacrifice and Unity

The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, Hon. Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi, has extended warm Sallah greetings to Muslims across the country as they celebrate Sallah


In a statement issued on Thursday by Ogwa Vivian Onyedibia, Senior Assistant on Media to the AUDA-NEPAD CEO, Hon. Abdullahi urged Nigerians to embrace the core values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion that define the season.


He emphasized that these principles are essential not only to the spiritual significance of the celebration but also to national development and peaceful coexistence.


“Eid is a time for reflection, sacrifice, and togetherness. As we celebrate, let us renew our commitment to building a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

Hon. Abdullahi expressed hope that the celebration would inspire a collective spirit among Nigerians and strengthen the bonds of love, empathy, and patriotism across communities.


He wished all Muslim faithful a joyous and fulfilling celebration, praying for continued peace and blessings upon the nation.
