NYSC DG, Bags 2024 Icon of Human Right Award

The Human Rights Writers’ Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has conferred the 2024 Icon of Human Rights Award on the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed.


Speaking during the award presentation at the National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja today, the National Coordinator of HURIWA, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko extolled the leadership qualities of General Ahmed especially with regards to the recent expansion of the Scheme and also NYSC’s resistance against the mobilization of unqualified graduates for national service.


He also described General Ahmed as a good ambassador, while he equally urged him to strive more in order to take the Scheme to greater heights.


Comrade Onwubiko also solicited for more public support for the NYSC through well-meaning individuals, non-governmental organisations among others.


In his response, the Director General appreciated the association for the honour bestowed on him while he promised to redouble his efforts in the discharge of his statutory responsibilities to the Scheme.

AUDA-NEPAD CEO Highlights Collaboration as Catalyst for Africa’s Economic Competitiveness

The Chief Executive Officer and National Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, Hon. Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi, has called for stronger public-private partnerships to boost Africa’s global competitiveness.

Speaking at the High-Level Business Forum 2025 organised by the NEPAD Business Group Nigeria in Lagos, Hon. Abdullahi said Africa’s transformation will be driven by enterprise, not aid.

He urged governments to create enabling environments that foster innovation, industrial growth, and sustainable development.

He reaffirmed AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria’s commitment to working with private sector actors and development partners to deliver key initiatives in agriculture, ICT, manufacturing, and renewable energy under the AU Agenda 2063 framework.

The event brought together top business and policy leaders, including representatives from the African Business Roundtable, the Bank of Industry, the Africa Finance Corporation, and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, among others.
