Ogun-Osun RBDA Empowers Graduate Youths In Agribusiness

The Authority of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority has empowered graduate Youths at it’s Graduate Youth Empowerment Program for year 2019/2020.

Speaking at the valedictory program recently held on for the graduants at the Authority’s Headquarters, Abeokuta, the Managing Director / CEO, Olufemi Odumosu said the Authority keyed into the program initiated by Hon. Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, FNSE, FAEng. in 2016 and ever since, the program has been sustained by the Authority and enriched in content and deliverable to both the Authority and the participants.

The ten participants, comprising 7 males and 3 females were trained in three main areas of Agribusiness, namely: Poultry, Fisheries and Arable Crop Production.

He said as part of the empowerment strategy to ensure they can start their own business respectively, the Authority had provided each participant with Fish Smoking Kilns with which some of them have already started fish smoking business at small scale.

The Participants were also given access to Fish Ponds available in the Headquarters Farm Project to assist them.

He said according to the Operational Guidelines of the Programme, 70% of the net profit made during the one year programme was shared in equal sum of 200,000 Naira each among the Graduates, which should be used as take-off capital for their respective businesses.

While thanking the Hon. Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, FNSE, FAEng for his encouragement and for making the programme one of his core mandate for the RBDAs, the MD/CEO Ogun-Oshun RBDA, urged the beneficiaries to ensure they succeed in their chosen business.

Earlier, the Ag. Executive Director ( Agric Services) Mr Femi Dokunmu has formally presented the beneficiaries and appraisal of their one-year activities to the audience. Arrangements have also been made to issue Certificate of Participation by the Authority as a technically certified credential to the respective participants.

Present at the ceremony are the other EDs, Directors and some Head of Divisions at the Authority.

CSO Salutes Trump

A Civil Society Organization (CSO) under the aegis of Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC) has congratulated President Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America.

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President of the CSO said this in an interview with the Newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

He expressed optimism over improvement on not just American economy but global economy with the inauguration of Trump.

“This is a man with greater vision of making environment around him great.

“In less than few hours of his inauguration, TikTok is back into existence, this shows how he is going to revive the world economy,” he said.

The ILDC boss who reiterated his confidence in Trump’s Presidency, described him as a man of clues and ideas to drive a stable America and the world at large.

He lauded Trump’s collaboration with global entrepreneurs like Elon Musk in an effort to revitalize America’s economy.

According to him, men and women of ideas flock together, they work together for better society and this is what Trump is doing.

Recall that Donald Trump became the 47th President of the U.S by polling 312 electoral votes Vice President Kamala Harris’ 226 votes in Nov, 2024.

Following the oath of office, Trump will address the nation before he is expected to parade across town to the White House and attend three inaugural balls in the evening

About 200,000 supporters are expected to visit the city to mark the presidential transfer of power.
