Osinbajo Lauds Team TIG Says There Hope For Gymnastics in Nigeria

The Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof Yemi Osinbajo has heaped huge praise on Tony Asuquo Gymnastics team TIG comprises of young Gymnasts for making country proud outside the country during the recent International Club championship in South Africa.

It will be recalled that, a total of 10 gymnasts who train with TIG club based in Abuja, participated in the two-day event in South Africa, winning seven medals in the process.He stated this when he play host to team Monday night at State house in Abuja, Osinbajo said with the great feat from young Gymnasts, there is great hope for Gymnastics game in Nigeria.


According to him, I was honoured to welcome this group of young, award-winning gymnasts from the TIG International Gymnastics Club.
“Their dazzling display of gymnastic skills and eloquence in the presentation their experiences while recently representing Niger again demonstrates the abundance of talent our country.


“I applaud Coach Anthony Asuquo’s Abuja-based private gymnastics club for blazing the trail in guiding young talents like Stephanie Onusiriuka, Tomison Babatunde, Dolapo Adedeji, and every other child in their care to national, continental, and international acclaim.


“Thanks to their fascinating work, there is great hop for gymnastics in Nigeria, especially for those who are just starting out.” He said.

In his remark, Coach Anthony Asuquo, who is the Founder of the club, said his joy is to nurture more talent that will make Nigeria proud more.

Lawal Delivers Another Brilliant Performance in Europe

After displaying great form for Istra 1961against Vukovar in the score draw encounter in the elite league few days ago in Croatia, Salim Fago Lawal has continued to enjoy rave of the moment status in the Eastern European nation.

On Wednesday, Lawal was on the scores sheet for Istra in the 75th minute against Kurilovec, but it was only for consolation, as Istra crashed out of Croatian cup in round 16.

It was a masterpiece display from the former Flying Eagles striker, whose work rate has shown great development after joining Istra from modest Nigerian clubside in 2023.

He has scored three goals and two assists, totally five – goal contribution as a striker so far this season.

Interestingly, two other Flying Eagles players, Israel Ayuma and Charles Agada, who are also former players of Mavlon FC, featured in the game and they gave good account of themselves.

Sadly, it was not the day of victory on the pitch for the three former players of Mavlon FC of Lagos.
