President Federation Cup: FCT FA Chairman, Mouktar Congratulates Naija Ratels On Performance, Urges Team Not To Despair

The Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCTFA) Chairman, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Muhammed congratulates the Players, Coaches and Management of Abuja based Female Football Club, Naija Ratels on their gallant performance in the final against Rivers Angels during the 2024 President Federation Cup Final, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos. 


In a statement signed on Sunday in Abuja by the Media Adviser Adviser to Chairman, Uche Nwudoh Hillary, the FCT FA Chairman, Adam Mouktar, congratulates the entire team for their display of team spirit, resilient and determination despite the slim score defeat by their opponent. He commends the team for going against all odds as debutants and even making it to the final. 


Alhaji Mouktar urges the team to take the journey as positive and a work in progress for greater heights in the nearest future. 


“I want to say congratulations to you all on your performance despite the defeat. Don’t be discouraged. You have all shown that great team can emerge from the FCT. We salute your gallantry. We are proud of you. We have our heads up high with your performance despite getting here for the first time”.


“You are our heroins. We would continue to support you and motivate you. Don’t take this as a downcast, it is a step up. It is a process for the greater tomorrow. Thirty Eighty teams participated in this competition. You are first runner up. You are finalists and Silver Medalists. You are going up. The future is here and brighter. The FCT FA is solidly behind you. 


Adam Mouktar charges the girls and the coaching crew and management of the team to continue to discover and nurture great talents as they have always done. 


Adam Mouktar also appreciates fans and journalists who traveled all the way to Lagos to cheer and support the team. 


“We love football in the FCT. Don’t rest on your oars. You have Naija Ratels that have made us proud. It is no mean feat. To you our fans and our key partners the men of the press, you are all highly commended for your show of support and reportage on our great girls. You are part of the success. We would do more to bring the Cup to the Capital City”.


Naija Ratels lost in a slim lone goal in the final against Champions Rivers Angels.
The FCT FA Chairman congratulates the Nigeria Football Federation and sponsor on the success of the competition describing it as Federation Cup remade in beauty and glamour.


The final of the Female 2024 President Federation Cup was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos on June 29.


Newly promoted NPFL side, El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri defeated Abia Warriors by 2-0 goals to get the Cup and a Continental ticket in the men’s category.

Cricket: Edo, Lagos Secure Win As Women’s Championship Begins

Edo and Lagos states have both secured wins on the first day of the Nigeria Cricket Federation ,NCF, Women’s Championship in Abuja.


The tournament ongoing at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja saw Edo beat Kaduna state by 61 runs in the first game of the day. 


Kaduna won the toss and opted to field but couldn’t not do much to restrict the batting prowess of the Edo state side.


Edo scored 115 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. 
While trying to chase the target, Kaduna could only settle for 54 runs as they lost all 10 wickets in 16.3 overs, with Edo claiming a 61 run win.


The second game of the day ended in favour of the Lagos state side as the claimed a 69 run win against Anambra.


Anambra won the toss and opted to field, but Lagos showed sheer dominance with the bat scoring 118 for the loss of two in 20 overs.


Anambra in reply could only manage 49 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs, giving Lagos the win with 69 runs. Meanwhile Anambra, Edo, Kogi, Ekiti, Gombe, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Kaduna are currently participating in the tournament scheduled to end on Sunday.
