Sports Minister Congratulates Tobi Amusan on Diamond League Victory

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has congratulated Oluwatobiloba Amusan for winning the 100m Women’s Hurdles in a time of 12.33 to reclaim her Diamond League title in Eugene, Oregon, United States of America.
Enoh stated that the victory was a beautiful way for Amusan to wind down an athletic season that brought joy, tears and goosebumps. He added that her determination and mental strength is worth emulating.
“I join millions of Nigerians globally to felicitate with Tobi Amusan on a deserved win at the Diamond League. The victory is one that will restore her confidence after the difficult ordeal she passed through this year. Even though she lost the World Championship title, she won our hearts in Budapest. I am glad that she was able to overcome all of the challenges to defend her crown for the third consecutive time.”
“I urge Tobi and other Nigerian athletes to reflect on this season, applaud themselves for their hard work and look towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Amusan emerged champion competing in a strong field that included Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Kendra Harrison and others. She clinched her third consecutive title, on the same tracks where she had won last year. She emerges as only the second woman in the history of the Diamond League to clinch three 100m hurdles titles in a row, equalling the record of Dawn Nelson-Harper.

World Athletics, AFN Set for Press Conference Ahead of Abuja City International Half Marathon

With only 10 days remaining before the commencement of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon, the organising committee has confirmed that the World Press Conference for the marathon will hold on friday, 5th December, where officials from World Athletics, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), event partners, and other distinguished dignitaries are expected to be in attendance.
It was stated that the briefing will highlight final race arrangements, athlete participation, technical details, safety measures, and other relevant information for the international and local sporting communities.
The organisers also announced that media accreditation has officially opened, encouraging journalists, photographers, broadcasters, and digital media practitioners to apply through the designated online link:

They emphasised that early accreditation would ensure seamless processing ahead of the event.
