Sports Ministry to Partner with Schools in Sports Research Curriculum

The Hon. Minister of Sports Development Sen. John Owan Enoh has revealed that  the ministry is ready to partner with schools in the development of a sports research curriculum ,in collaboration with expatriates 
In a Press statement issued by the Director Press and Public Relations FMSD Kehinde Ajayi (Mrs).
The Minister disclosed this when the Vice Chancellor , David Umahi Federal University of Health Science paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Mashood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja recently.
Senator Enoh  noted that the idea to conduct research on sports programmes is relevant and on point and that will bring the nations  sporting activities in line with global best practices in schools. 
The Minister commended the Vice Chancellor for taking the bold step to initiate  it and for coming around as all is geared towards achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President towards the nation’s  sports industry.
 “Eboyi State is a home out side home that is equally the admiration of other State”  because of her fast development ,that includes their airport and the facilities put in place. 

The minister expressed  his joy to  the state for pioneering sports management beyond atheletics. He further revealed his intension that aside making sports business oriented, he wishes in his tenure, to transform the Nigerian Institute of Sports(NIS) to become an outstanding University of Sports. 
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chancellor  Prof. Jesse Uneke disclosed that the University is a full fledged  Federal  University of Health Science and that his  wish is to institute a strong sports research center that will  exchange programmes for Sports Leadership, sports administration and sports support personnel. 

The Vice Chancellor thereafter requested for the Ministry’s assistance in the areas of  Coaching Education, Curriculum Development,  Sports Education, Sports Management, Sports Infrastructure Development  Management  Information Technology as it concerns sports in  the country.

FAME Foundation to the World: Para Athletes Need Empowerment, Not Sympathy

The founder of FAME Foundation (Female Advocacy, Mentoring, and Empowerment), Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, has called on the global community to support, not pity, para athletes. 


Speaking at the recently concluded Play the Game 2025 Conference held in Tampere, Finland, Atoyebi emphasized that athletes with physical challenges require empowerment, policy support, and inclusion not sympathy.


Aderonke, a fearless journalist and lifelong advocate for women and girls in sports, has consistently championed the rights of marginalized groups through her foundation.

Known for her bold and passionate advocacy, she reiterated that para athletes deserve the same opportunities and resources as their able-bodied counterparts.


The international conference, held from October 5th to 8th, brought together journalists, policymakers, and global stakeholders to discuss pressing issues under the theme: “Breaking Barriers in Sports: Integration of Marginalized Groups and Persons with Disabilities.”


Delivering a powerful and interactive lecture, Atoyebi stated: “I want to conclude by saying that para athletes around the globe need our support, policy reviews, and implementation—not our pity. They don’t need sympathy; what they truly need is empowerment.”

Her impactful contribution at the event further amplified Africa’s voice in the global call for inclusion, equality, and policy-driven change in the world of sports.
